The United Nations' special rapporteur on migrants' rights, Jorge Bustamante will be paying a visit to Prince William County, Virginia to review their strict anti-illegal immigration ordinance (link). He'll be visiting Manassas and Woodbridge and trying to speak with local officials on June 10 and 11, and his visit might have been orchestrated by the extremist group Mexicanos Sin Fronteras.
Among other things, Bustamante is a Mexican citizen and partisan who wanted Mexican immigrants to the U.S. to become citizens of this country in order to push Mexico's agenda inside the U.S. This link...

At a Florida fundraiser yesterday, Barack Obama said this:
"A certain segment has basically been feeding a kind of xenophobia. There's a reason why hate crimes against Hispanic people doubled last year... If you have people like Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh ginning things up, it's not surprising that would happen."

Short answer: Not at all.
Long answer: If the Republican candidate is John McCain, will the GOP be unable or unwilling to attack the Democratic candidate (whether Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton) on their immigration positions?
The answer clearly is yes: the GOP leadership - just like the Democratic leadership - supports illegal immigration. Certainly, some 527 groups which are to some extent only nominally unaffiliated with the GOP may decide to press the issue, but the parties and the candidates won't.

Lou Dobbs for President? - 01/16/08
I'm not 100% completely a fan of Lou Dobbs for various reasons, mostly because he doesn't seem that willing to end the careers of some of those he interviews by relentlessly hammering them on their lies. On the other hand, he still has to get guests so I can understand why he might not go for the jugular each time. Nevertheless, a Lou Dobbs candidacy is probably something I would support. And, at the very least, the foaming at the mouth from both "liberals" as well as cheap labor conservatives would be something to see.

David Leonhardt of the New York Times offers the much-linked "Truth, Fiction and Lou Dobbs". It discusses a few facts that Dobbs has gotten wrong, and to that extent it's worthwhile: everybody needs a fact-checker to keep them honest. However, one wonders about this bit:
