Tough questions for the White House "Big Block of Cheese Day"
On Wednesday, January 29, 2014 the White House will be holding a virtual "Big Block of Cheese Day" during which administration officials will answer questions from the public on various social media sites. The name isn't quite as stupid as you might first expect; per this:
In [West Wing television show], White House staffers were required on one day a year to meet with citizens and interest groups who normally might not earn attention from top administration officials. The fictional tradition was a nod to President Andrew Jackson, who in 1837 hosted an open house with a 1,400 pound block of cheese in the White House's foyer.
There are various problems with such events. First, White House staffers aren't about to answer tough questions but will have the easiest questions cherry-picked for them. Second, the tough questions will be drowned out by childish joke questions that only serve to help the administration avoid tough questions.
If those prone to flooding social media with childish joke questions can contain themselves, and many people agree to concentrate on a small set of tough questions, then and only then might the administration be forced to try to answer some of those tough questions.
That's where you come in. I need you to make the point to jokers - especially on Twitter - that joking around only helps the Obama administration. And, I need you to either come up with tough questions and tweet them, or coalesce around my pre-prepared tough questions. If you don't do that, then the Obama administration will have yet another feel-good field day and won't be held accountable.
See the questions in the Question Authority for some tough questions I'll be tweeting on that day using the #AsktheWH hashtag. A selected set of questions will be included below over time.
ADDED: I wrote a program to create and send these tweets alone and to various administration officials, around 450 tweets total. To obtain the list in a text file, contact me @24AheadDotCom_ .
ADDED: Here are a few questions, all of which fit in 140 characters or less with the #AsktheWH hashtag. More to follow:
