NCLR, LULAC, SEIU, UFCW, etc. launch boycott of Arizona over immigration law (+Al Sharpton)

A whole host of far-left illegal immigration profiteers today launched an organized boycott of Arizona over that state's new immigration law (nclr.org/content/news/detail/63211). See the last link for our extensive coverage of that law, and see each of the following links for our coverage of the groups. Those participating include:

* National Council of La Raza (chief organizer)
* League of United Latin American Citizens
* Center for Community Change
* Service Employees International Union
* Leadership Conference on Civil Rights
* UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers)
* Asian American Justice Center
* National Puerto Rican Coalition

From their press release:

The call to boycott was made in protest of Arizona’s new law, SB 1070, which essentially sanctions racial profiling as acceptable police practice in dealing with immigration issues. Under a banner that said “Boycott Intolerance,” the groups denounced SB 1070 and pledged not to hold major conventions, conferences or other special events involving significant travel to Arizona from out of state, and asked others—including community-based organizations, corporations, unions, churches, student groups, and ordinary citizens—to consider whether their purchases of goods and services might perpetuate the unjust and discriminatory law in Arizona.

As if to underline the "moral" urgency of their call, they include a quote from Al Sharpton; whether he's formally part of the boycott isn't known:

“The Arizona immigration bill is an affront to the civil rights of all Americans and an attempt to legalize racial profiling,” said Reverend Al Sharpton. “We at the National Action Network (NAN) have helped make racial profiling an issue of national concern, and last night we led a mass rally and marched to the Arizona state capitol to shed light on their draconian immigration policies. NAN is calling for the coalition of civil rights and community organizations that are gathered today to work with those in Arizona to resist and overturn this law, which violates the rights of Americans in that state. We intend to have the right people stand up for what’s right. If it becomes necessary, we will bring people from all over the country to be freedom walkers in Arizona. The only ID we will have in our pockets is the U.S. Constitution, which gives us the right to equal protection under the law.”
