Hertzberg gets Riordan endorsement in race for L.A. mayor - 02/11/05

From this: Former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan endorsed the mayoral campaign of Bob Hertzberg on Thursday, saying he favored the former state Assembly speaker's plan to break up the Los Angeles Unified School District. Riordan, who now serves as the state secretary of education, appeared on KFI-AM's "The John and Ken Show" and praised Hertzberg's plans for education and traffic, including a platform

No Republicans please, we're Angelenos - 12/12/04

At the first Los Angeles Mayoral debate, the five candidates who were invited to speak represented Los Angeles' rich political spectrum: all were Democrats. Those same five Democrats are the only candidates who have been invited to the second debate, which is being sponsored by the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters. On Friday, I spoke with David Allgood from the League.

Backstage at the L.A. Mayoral debate - 12/02/04

I'll be somewhat live-blogging it tonight at 7pm. I haven't been following L.A. politics recently, but I'll do my best. I finally got around to removing a certain site from my list of blogs; said site had publicly objected to me including links to the article "MEChA, Villaraigosa And The LA Mayoral Campaign" in a whopping two posts. I called Ron Kaye of the L.A.

Antonio Villaraigosa: "let's face it. Is anyone excited about electing John Kerry...?" - 06/12/04

The BoiFromTroy attended a California League of Conservation Voters meeting last night, and here's what he says Antonio Villaraigosa said: "After all, let's face it.

John Kerry: "help will be on the way to California!" - 03/30/04

The article 'Kerry offers aid in capital visit' appears in the SacBee, but I occasionally thought it might be in the Onion: Presidential hopeful John Kerry said Monday that "help is on the way" to California if he is elected, suggesting that Gov.

More key endorsements for John Kerry - 03/18/04

The NewsMax article 'Malaysia's Jew-Hating Ex-leader Endorses Kerry' has the current run-down: It turns out that Spain's new soft-on-terror socialist leader, North Korea's communist terrorist dictator, the Arab propagandists of Al Jazeera and the cowardly French aren't the only dubious foreign supporters of John Kerry's presidential campaign. Mahathir Mohamad, who as Malaysia's soft-on-terrorism prime minister last year urged fellow Muslim leaders to achieve a "final victory" over the Jews who "rule th

Boxer foes court Bush, but oppose immigration plan - 03/01/04

From the San Diego Union Tribune (link): The four candidates seeking the GOP nomination to run for the U.S. Senate [generally agree with Bush except] on one issue - President Bush's plan to allow millions of illegal immigrants to have temporary legal status - the candidates have been willing to openly criticize the president. ...As a group, they've taken a tougher stance on immigrants than the president, reflecting a split in the Republican Party between hard-liners and those wishing to accommodate illegal immigrants and their employers. ...[Proposition 187] - passed but later...

Stop fucking with my mind, man! - 04/05/03

Want to fuck with a "peace" protester's mind? Show them this speech: Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors... The hard fact is that so long as Saddam remains in power, he threatens the well-being of his people, the peace of his region, the security of the world.

Ten fun facts about me - 11/01/02

10. I blog because everyone else is blogging. 9. I hate, abhor, and detest pickles on my sandwiches, whether hamburgers or Subway. I frequently repeat "no pickles" two or three times when ordering. The thought of biting into a pickle fills me with horror. I check said sandwiches before initial fressung. 8. I think Gray Davis should retire. 7. I like broccoli. I'm not very fond of raw or undercooked broccoli, but I'll still eat it. But, cooked broccoli is fine with me. I like cauliflower as well, although less so than brocolli. 6.

Maybe the sniper wasn't living in his car all the time - 10/25/02

According to this article: Meanwhile, agents traced Muhammad to a car registered to an address in Camden, N.J., which housed a Caribbean take-out restaurant on the ground floor and apartments above... Some said they had never seen [Muhammed]. Others said they saw him each day at the restaurant, called the All Nation's Club, working as a cook while reggae music blared for customers.

Finding the white truck - 10/13/02

Let's assume: - the white truck exists and is more or less as described - the white truck belongs to the sniper - the sniper doesn't want to get caught, at least now - the correct truck has not yet been turned in by someone to the police tip line Could the sniper be driving this truck around the general area on a daily basis? Most likely not, with one exception. The description of the truck includes indistinct or so-far-unrecognized black lettering on the side. What if that lettering is just a red herring?
