Los Angeles City Council approves illegal alien day laborer hiring hall - 01/20/06

The municipal entity known as the City of Los Angeles is directly enabling illegal immigration by leasing a section of the parking lot of a new Van Nuys Home Depot from that store. They're paying $1 per year, and a non profit called the Youth Policy Institute will run it.

California Democrat Gil Cedillo re-introduces driver's licenses for illegal aliens bill - 01/12/06

As surely as Winter follows Fall, Gil Cedillo has introduced SB 1160, which would give driver's licenses to those who are in California illegally. SB1160 is identical to last year's SB60. Schwarzenegger's press secretary says his opposition to this bill remains. Most of the illegal aliens who'd get licenses under this bill are of the same race as Cedillo, who's a former member of the racial separatist group MEChA.

Financial Times discovers dangers of massive illegal immigration - 12/20/05

The Financial Times superficially reports that "LA's hidden economy threatens region".

"Liberalism" caused Los Angeles' massive underground economy - 12/14/05

The Milken Institute has released a study called the "Los Angeles Economy Project", which reports that nearly 680,000 workers in the region work in the underground, cash-only economy. And, nearly half of those are in Los Angeles alone. Needless to say, most of those involved are illegal aliens. And, this situation costs the cities, counties, and feds two billion dollars in lost revenues. "Liberalism" is directly responsible for this situation because of: 1. Onerous regulations forcing many companies to pursue a workaround. 2. Encouraging and allowing massive illegal immigration. Now...

AVWatch: Villaraigosa rides on Ameriquest jet, pays 10% of cost - 11/10/05

"Mayor Reconquista", aka Antonio Villaraigosa, was recently given short notice that he could appear at Rosa Parks' funeral. Now, if he were an average citizen, about the only thing he could do is try to get a last-minute flight from LAX or BUR.

True face of Democratic Party: union thugs attack woman at anti-Arnold rally - 10/28/05

Yesterday the anti-Arnold forces held a rally in downtown Los Angeles. It featured Antonio Villaraigosa, Fabian Nunez, and, in the crowd, lots of union members and one lone Arnold supporter. Read the report in "UNION THUGS attack Schwarzenegger supporter at Villarogosa rally in Los Angeles - VIDEO!!!".

Governor Bill Clinton... of California? - 09/23/05

This rumor mill site says that sources say that someone else says that their sources heard from someone else that major donors (probably including George Soros) are encouraging "Bubba" Bill Clinton to run for governor of California. "On first blush, it might sound nuts" they quote a Democratic strategist. It sounds the same way on second, third, and subsequent blushes too. Other possibilities mentioned include: Magic Johnson, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, L.A.

Los Angeles City-mandated illegal alien day laborer centers? - 09/14/05

There's a proposed L.A. City ordinance that would require big box home improvement stores to have an attached center for day laborers.

Is Fabian Nunez an American, a Mexican, or a little bit of both? - 08/30/05

Fabian Nunez is the Speaker of the California Assembly, and he's returned from a four-day trip to Mexico designed to smooth over our troubled relations with that fine country. Unfortunately, based not just on this trip but on his entire career, I'm a little bit confused over which country he actually represents. Does he represent America, or does he at least partially represent Mexican interests? Needless to say, Nunez is a Democrat.

AVWatch: Villaraigosa's most worthwhile cause yet - 08/22/05

Sure, being a leader with a racial separatist group was bad, and those Chicano Power handclaps in the California legislature were bad too, but Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has finally found something that's slightly not bad and that's worthy of his talents: The mayor of Los Angeles wants an independent review of the elephant quarters at the Los Angeles Zoo, to help determine the future of th

Wellington Webb: all power to the People of Color! - 08/21/05

Wellington Webb is the former mayor of Denver. He also started that city's illegal alien sanctuary policy that was in the news recently.

L.A. Times newsflash: the citizens are angry about illegal immigration - 08/01/05

The Los Angeles Times reports in "Anger Boils at Illegal Immigrants" about a meeting held Thursday of last week at Pico and LaCienega sponsored by Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson and the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny. The confab was called "Blacks and Hispanics: Allies or Rivals?" The L.A. Times is now free to report that non-PC thoughts were thought, and non-PC statements were voiced. Oh, the horror! The audience of 80 was split between whites, blacks, and Latinos.

Now with 20% more Asian content! - 07/14/05

Picture to the right are NYC mayoral candidate Virginia Fields and her supporters. The bottom photo was produced from the top by Photoshopping in two Asians who were not supporters. Apparently the airbrushing was done by her direct mail company.

AVWatch: Los Angeles is the "new Ellis Island" - 07/05/05

Speaking in front of a National Education Association convention, Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said that: Los Angeles is an immigration hub, the new mayor said, and "the city of America's hopes and dreams." "Make no mistake, it's irrefutable.

AVWatch: The L.A. Times covers its bets - 07/02/05

The Los Angeles Times has a few reports on the inauguration of Antonio Villaraigosa, and they also offer "Much Unsaid in Villaraigosa's Inaugural Talk". Summary: in his speech, AV had a lot of big ideas, but few details were provided and he's going to have a very difficult task making them happen. The LAT has been a long-time supporter of the former member of a racial separatist group, including ignoring or covering up for his past.

AVWatch: How is he going to pay for all this stuff? - 07/01/05

The Los Angeles Times has a 7-screener entitled "Promises, Promises Could Cost L.A. Millions, Billions". $140 million to plant trees? To pay for all of his proposals, former MEChA member and current L.A. mayor Antonio Villaraigosa might propose a half-cent sales tax hike next year. That's not going to sit too very well with some people...

AVWatch: Why are foreign leaders coming to Villaraigosa's inauguration? - 06/29/05

According to the L.A. Times ("Inauguration Is the Place for Politicians to Be Seen") and the L.A.

Home Depot doesn't support illegal immigration - 06/19/05

The group Save Our State recently held a protest about illegal alien day laborers in front of a Home Depot in Alhambra, CA. It was counter-protested, but apparently peacefully. The AP reports: Home Depot said in a statement it does not support illegal immigration but can't stop workers from standing near its stores. I'll avoid making a joke at this point in time, instead I'll point out this rather interesting fact: Home Depot is paying a lobbyist $10,000 a month to lobby the L.A.

AVWatch: An Antonio Villaraigosa roundup - 06/08/05

There's a roundup of the events and associations that the Los Angeles Times and all other MSM sources refuse to cover here. I'd suggest sending that link to public *at* nytimes.com and onlinenewshour *at* newshour.org and ask them to cover the issues that the LAT, Newsweek, and all the rest conveniently ignore.

AVWatch: what's the SacBee smoking? - 06/06/05

I just ran across the 5/18/05 Laura Mecoy article "Villaraigosa wins L.A. mayor's race", which contains this: For instance, he quickly renounced Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or MEChA, a controversial group he joined in college, and avoided the criticism Lt. Gov.

AVWatch: Villaraigosa's under-reported associations - 06/03/05

The last post ("The Trojan Horses of Sacramento") mentioned one Juan Jose Guiterrez ("JJG"), who has some association with America's favorite new mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa.

AVWatch: Annotating Villaraigosa's speech - 06/02/05

L.A.'s mayor-elect Antonio Villaraigosa appeared at the "Take Back America" event (for "progressives", not necessarily reconquistas). Here are his remarks, annotated with few randomly chosen links:

Home Depot, Antonio Villaraigosa, Fernando Guerra, and Microsoft - 06/01/05

What a strange, strange titular combination. Fernando Guerra is a Loyola Marymount associate professor and the director of the Center for the Study of Los Angeles at that school. He's also a pundit on Los Angeles politics, and he was apparently all over the TV, radio, and newspapers with his various pro-Villaraigosa views. However, he's also a lobbyist, pulling down $10,000 a month from Home Depot to lobby the Los Angeles City Council about their day laborer sites.

Can I blame the Catholic Church then? - 06/01/05

The LAT offers us a guest editorial from L.A.'s own Cardinal Roger Mahony entitled "A Nation That Should Know Better": It appears fashionable these days, and almost politically correct, to blame hard-working immigrants, especially those from Mexico and Central America, for the social and economic ills of our state and nation.

AVWatch: Mexico to play important role in Villaraigosa's policies - 05/28/05

Los Angeles mayor-elect Antonio Villaraigosa was interviewed by Mexico City's El Universal a few days ago, and: [he said] that Mexico will play an important role in shaping his policies... Furthermore: ...Villaraigosa stressed that as mayor he would look to improve relations with Mexico. "We are starting a new era.

AVWatch: no California border patrols - 05/19/05

Welcome to the first installment of Antonio Villaraigosa Watch, a feature that will highlight the thoughts of the new mayor of Los Angeles. Today's feature is "LA mayor-elect breaks with governor on civilian border patrols": Mayor-elect Antonio Villaraigosa said Thursday he opposes civilian volunteers patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border to discourage illegal immigration, putting him at odds with Gov.

Villaraigosa's magic race shield - 05/16/05

Los Angeles mayoral candidate Antonio Villaraigosa gets some negative coverage from a surprising source in a surprising place. From Gregory Rodriguez' "Race Is His Magic Shield" (link):

Where'd Antonio go? - 05/15/05

I used to have an acquaintance whose signature phrase was, "I'll be right back." He'd come back hours or days later. He was also an occasional actor, and I think he'd be perfect for a new round of Antonio Villaraigosa campaign commercials. As a preview of what a Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa would be like, reporters wanted to question him about a negative (believe it or don't) article in the L.A. Times.

Dirt on L.A. County Supervisor Gloria Molina? - 05/14/05

And, it involves SVREP ("Southwest Voter Registration Education Project: Committed to educate Latino communities across the Southwest about the democratic process..."), Los Angeles mayoral candidate Antonio Villaraigosa, and the Chicano Studies Department at CSUN? I'm not going to repeat the supposed dirt here, and I want to stress this is just from an anonymous source and may have absolutely no basis in reality. Nevertheless, do a find of molina here to see it. Think of it as yet another important thing for the "jour

Has Antonio Villaraigosa renounced MEChA? - 05/12/05

I had no idea this was going on, but UCLA's Bruin Alumni Association has been going to Los Angeles mayoral candidate Antonio Villaraigosa's campaign appearances trying to get him to renounce the racial separatist organization MEChA. AV was president of the UCLA chapter of that group. There's much more on their attempts and AV's militant past here.

Endorsement: Jim Hahn for Mayor of Los Angeles - 05/10/05

I know most people don't like him for various reasons, many of which are unfair or trivial. However, even if you think Hahn is horrible I believe I can guarantee that Antonio Villaraigosa would be far, far worse. As has been pointed out many times, but, strangely enough, has not yet made the L.A. Times, Villaraigosa is the former president of the UCLA chapter of the racial separatist organization MEChA.

Poll: Hahn ties Villaraigosa for Mayor of Los Angeles - 05/07/05

Via email: The Hahn campaign received wonderful news this week when a voter survey showed the mayoral race tied with only a week-and-a-half remaining before election day. The Tyson Organization, at the request of the campaign, conducted a survey of 1,515 voters who represent those who will turn out for the May 17 mayoral election. (A traditional polling firm usually only talks to 300-400 voters.) There were two questions asked in a blind script: Are you voting?

Yes, why did Antonio Villaraigosa get $179,000 in campaign contributions from Florida? - 04/29/05

In a very good article, Copley News Service wants to know "Why did Floridians give $179,000 to Villaraigosa?" It isn't exactly clear, but man this seems fishy: ...Villaraigosa received $179,000 from Florida contributors as of April 5, the end of the city's most recent financial reporting period, with one of every six dollars coming from individuals affiliated with Travel Traders [a Miami-based company that operates hotel gift shops].

At least some "liberals" are getting a clue - 04/18/05

Over at the not-quite-as-bad-as-Hatrios site MyDD, Chris Bowers offers us "Scapegoating Immigrants" about the REAL ID Act.

L.A. C of C, Antonovich endorse Hahn; Riordan, Harman, others endorse former member of racial separatist organization - 04/01/05

The L.A. Chamber of Commerce recently endorsed Jim Hahn for mayor of Los Angeles. One of the two sane L.A. County Supervisors, Mike Antonovich, endorsed Hahn as well: Mayoral contender Antonio Villaraigosa won the support Wednesday of several San Fernando Valley community leaders while incumbent James Hahn picked up the endorsement of Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D.

Endorsement: Jim Hahn for Mayor of Los Angeles - 03/09/05

Barring a challenge by Bob Hertzberg, it looks like May's run-off election will be a repeat of that from four years ago, with Antonio Villaraigosa vs. the incumbent Jim Hahn. I strongly endorse Jim Hahn and I urge you to support him.

"Hertzberg vs. Villaraigosa" - 02/21/05

In a Sunday editorial, the L.A. Times [1] says, "...the people of Los Angeles would be well served by a runoff election between Bob Hertzberg and Antonio Villaraigosa...", Yes, indeed.

Former MX Prez Zedillo accused of crimes against humanity - 02/14/05

From this: Former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo GRD '81, the director of Yale's Center for the Study of Globalization, denied on Sunday accusations that surfaced late last week that he committed crimes against humanity by supporting murderous paramilitary gangs during his six-year term as president. Yale officials are standing behind Zedillo, supporting the economist who served as president of Mexico from 1994 to 2000 before taking over the directorship of the Globalization Center in 2002.

L.A. Mayoral debate, Tues. 2/15 7am on KABC radio - 02/14/05

...McIntyre in the Morning will present the candidates in a live forum to discuss the issues you care about most. Mayor James Hahn will be joined by rivals Bob Hertzberg, Richard Alarcon, Bernard Parks, Walter Moore and Antonio Villaraigosa.
