Center for American Progress corporate funders and immigration - 12/14/13
The leftwing Center for American Progress has released a list of their corporate funders for 2013 [1]. Several of the funders have a financial interest in higher immigration and in comprehensive immigration reform.
George Will: maybe we should make Puerto Rico a state - 07/18/10
George Will offers the (at the least) naive "Through Puerto Rico, the GOP can reach out to Hispanics" (link) in which he retails the suggestion by Puerto Rico's Republican governor that making that territory a U.S. state would help the Republicans. It's not clear whether Will is entirely sold on the idea, but in any case the only party helped would be the Democrats:
[Governor Luis Fortuno] wants Republicans to couple insistence on border enforcement with support for Puerto Rican statehood. This, he says, would resonate deeply among Hispanics nationwide. His premise is that many factors --...
Peter Wallsten misleads about Lou Dobbs (now an amnesty supporter?) - 11/25/09
Peter Wallsten (formerly of the Los Angeles Times, now with the Wall Street Journal) offers "Dobbs Reaches Out to Latinos, With Politics in Mind" (link), which contains this misleading statement (bolding added):
(Lou Dobbs) is working to repair what a spokesman conceded is a glaring flaw: His reputation for antipathy toward Latino immigrants. In a little-noticed interview Friday, Mr. Dobbs told Spanish-language network Telemundo he now supports a plan to legalize millions of undocumented workers, a stance he long lambasted as an unfair "amnesty."
Now, to help illustrate why Wallsten is being...
Telemundo to promote Hispanic participation in 2010 Census - 02/03/09
Telemundo is launching "Hazte Contar" (Be Counted!), a major effort to encourage their viewers - almost all Hispanics and including no doubt large numbers of illegal aliens - to take part in the 2010 U.S. Census (link). It will start on April 1, and extend across all their properties; they're going as far as incorporating this into their telenovelas (soap operas).
In case anyone had any doubt that this was about money and power:
[Their president Don Browne says:] "The 2010 Census will determine federal and state representation in government and determine what communities get billions of...
Elvira Arellano arrested by "La Migra"! - 08/19/07
Convicted criminal Elvira Arellano has been arrested by ICE in downtown Los Angeles. Apparently Telemundo is trying to rile up their audience, but La Opinion only has a brief report (laopinion.com/supp2/?rkey=00000000000002163320).
Will this result in massive riots as supposed Americans who put their race ahead of their country join with foreign citizens who are here illegally to support attempts by some to refuse to abide by our laws? Or, will it go largely unnoticed except by those outside the far-left who'll stage a few small protests? Will corrupt priests like Cardinal Roger Mahoney...
Amy Goodman ignores Mexico links of illegal immigration march organizers - 05/03/07
Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! interviewed two illegal immigration march organizers (link) without mentioning that at least one of them has a highly questionable link to Mexico. Per her:
To help recap and look ahead to what's next, we're joined by organizers of the day's two largest protests:
* Angelica Salas, Executive Director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights in Los Angeles (CHIRLA).
* Jorge Mujica, former journalist and union organizer and one of the lead organizers for immigrant rights protests in Chicago. He has worked for La Raza, Univision, and Telemundo, and has been...

Democracy Now/[[April 21st, 2006]]/ link
Jorge Mujica, one of the lead organizers for the March 10 protest in Chicago that drew up to 300,000 people. A former journalist and union organizer, Mujica has worked for La Raza, Univision, and Telemundo, and has been involved in union organizing in both the US and in Mexico.
...JORGE MUJICA: Thank you very much.
