John McCain misleads about JD Hayworth over "birthers"; HotAir helps

The video at peekURL.com/v3c14ar is a new John McCain attack ad against JD Hayworth that misleads potential voters, trying to portray Hayworth as a dreaded "Birther". The ad serves the interests of the Democrats [1], thus it's not surprising to see it coming from McCain and being promoted by at least HotAir; please see this discussion of the proper way to handle the "Birthers" issue. It involves simply telling the truth, something that many across the political spectrum have problems with.

In the ad, clips of Orly Taitz and Philip Berg making somewhat outlandish claims are followed by Hayworth not making outlandish claims [2], then the ad falsely claims that the only difference among the three is that Hayworth is running for Senate. Now, see this, which appeared a few days before the ad was released:

...Hayworth cited [first quote at 1 below] the 10-year-old Scottsdale case of fugitive anti-war protester Howard Mechanic in a national TV interview to help make his case why President Barack Obama should release his original birth certificate... On the run since the Vietnam War era, Mechanic ran for the Scottsdale City Council using the alias "Gary Tredway." His true identity came to light during the 2000 race and he went to prison, eventually securing a pardon from President Bill Clinton... McCain's re-election campaign was quick to cite the audio of a 2009 KFYI interview Hayworth conducted with controversial "birther" leader Orly Taitz in which he seemed to express no skepticism about what he called her "formidable assignment." At one point, Hayworth mentioned White House intimidation and asked Taitz if any "threats" had come her way... Hayworth does not harbor any doubts about Obama's constitutional eligibility to hold the presidency, spokesman Jason Rose said... "As a talk-show host, it was his job to provoke discussion, including on this issue since people were calling in about it," Rose said.

Once again: that appeared a few days before McCain released his ad.

[1] As an example of how the ad helps the Democrats, see the attached picture, with most of the traffic coming from sites like the Huffington Post, the Washington Post, Wonkette, Salon, Politico, and CNN (the Fox News Nation is just an excerpt of and link to an article from Dave Weigel of the George Soros-funded Washington Independent). The one outllier on the list: HotAir. Obviously, all are news sites that get a large amount of traffic. However, one might not expect the HuffPost or Wonkette to link to some random ad from McCain, and one might also expect HotAir to present a defense of Hayworth along the lines of this post. So, why didn't they? See the "proper way" link in the first paragraph.

[2] The first quote is:

All I'm saying is, for every race across the country, especially with identity theft in the news, it would be great that people can confirm who they say they are.

That's then followed by a clip from his 7/15/09 radio show:

The sad fact is questions continue, and until president Obama signs his name and in fact has the records revealed the questions will remain.

How is that not true?
