John McCain supports illegal immigration even more strongly than Bloomberg

The NYPost reports that (putatively U.S.) Senator John McCain appeared at a New York Yacht Club gala and stated:
"What are we going to do with 11 million people? ...You going to send 'em all back? Mayor Bloomberg testified at a hearing last week that the economy of New York City would collapse [without illegal immigrants]. I would argue the economy of America would collapse."
Coming soon: George Bush will state that the world economy would collapse without illegal aliens.

As I see it, the real problem is birthright citizenship. Whether or not the 20 million live and die as legals or illegals, their numerous children are American citizens. We should change the rules so that children of illegals are not citizens. Such a change isn't going to happen anytime soon, however.

I think it was Thomas Sowell who recently pointed out the US economy didn't collapse during World War Two when a far larger percentage of the workforce was taken out of the private sector and sent into the armed forces.

It's the old "Big Lie" ploy: Tell a lie big enough and often enough and sooner or later enough people believe it. The sad truth is that we have to win everytime but the Open Borders Lobby only has to win once. Once the 20+million are legal, there's no going back to "unlegalize" them.
