Bill Richardson Lied about the Border Fence

Speaking on Meet the Press, New Mexico governor and Democratic presidential contender Bill Richardson lied about the border fence:
MR. RUSSERT: The wall hasn't worked?

GOV. RICHARDSON: No, it hasn't worked.

MR. RUSSERT: Anywhere along the border, the fence hasn't worked.

GOV. RICHARDSON: It hasn't worked. What has worked is more border patrols. What has worked is some National Guardsmen. What has worked is some technology. It's made the program better. But, Tim, we got to talk to Mexico, our friend, get them to do more...
Now, let's turn to NPR from April 2006:
Today, Henry is assistant chief of the Border Patrol's San Diego sector. He says apprehensions here are down 95 percent, from 100,000 a year to 5,000 a year, largely because the single strand of cable marking the border was replaced by double -- and in some places, triple -- fencing.
Obviously, the border fence has worked in that area, and Richardson lied.

And, of course, the idea that Mexico is a "friend" is ludicrous.

Here's the video of him making these claims:

The fence DOES NOT work for Bill Richardson because it keeps out his potential VOTES!!! What an A**!!!

Here's more to make a person upset about the whole border security issue. Yesterday, I wrote a POST [1] in which I examine what would happen if the logic being applied to construction of a border fence was used in areas such as bank, home and prison security. The results are downright frightening and produce one logical conclusion: No matter how you dress it up, a pig is still a pig. In other words, any border security proposal that fails to provide 100 percent-secure coverage of both our southern and northern flanks is a non-starter from the get-go.
