I lived in Chicago for nearly 20 years. Due to my well payed IT career at BofA of all places being derailed, I worked evenings for a couple of years at a delivery service on evenings and weekends. This service was located on 26th street southside right on the border of a heavily hispanic Pilsen and the black South Shore neighborhoods. Anybody who believes Open Borders and mass amnesty are supported by blue collar white ethnics and African-Americans is really high. And Howie Klien over at Downwithtryanny is a prime example. Being an ex-record executive Howie admits to spending many times smoking the high test sticky-icky with the likes Neil Young. I honestly believe and the polls seem to agree that 35% to 45% of Hispanics CITIZENS feel the same way. What kills me is that the pundits on tv are all talking about how historic the Obama candidacy is. Maybe I am mistaken but wasn't Jesse Jackson an African-American presidential candidate in 1984 and 1988? And unlike Obama, Jackson had far deeper roots in the African-American experience. While Obama was mostly raised by his white grandparents in Hawai and sent to elite prep schools and the Ivy league. That probably explains how he can be so out of touch with how actual working class blacks feel about illegal immigration. Somebody needs to send Obama some black talk radio mp3s. Obama reminds me of how Jesse Jackson's candidacy and the leftwing black intelligensia elite helped convince the Dukakis braintrust "/snark" to downplay fundemental law and order issues in 1988 as the crack epidemic was destroying urban communities across the nation. No matter what some far lefties would have you believe Willy Horton was just the tip of the iceberg. Dukakis could have prevented the entire fiasco if he just had balls to sign legislation his statehouse already sent to his desk to end prison overcrowding, reform the parole system and provide for more law enforcement. But Dukakis was too worried about pandering to the Black vote inspite of the fact that the majority of blacks would have supported his action. Dukakis was also worried about raising taxes for new prisons inspite of overwhelming support from the electorate. And it was not like Democrats did not know full well how vulverable Dukakis was on these issues. Several major liberal magazines covered the problem long before primaries season began. Even "Dookie"'s campaign manager Susan "froggy" Estrich wrote an article on how Democrats needed to embrace "broken window" crime control policies. If 2008 is not going to be 1968 all over again then it could be 1988.

||amajockey so did I, at one time many years ago that old city Chicago was a great place to live and I lived in south shore in the 1950 AND UP TO 1963 today its a hell on earth and if we do nothing but talk this nation will become just like south shore AND THAT MEANS HELL. Fred Dawes, Chicago's South and Southwest sides have pockets of Black, Asian and even Latino neighborhoods as House Proud and vigilent against gangbangers, junkies and dope slingers as any other white ethnic neighborhood. My point is that average Americans who want keep their streets safe are for the most part never going to agree with Open Borders and mass amnesty advocates. Hell Fred, I even worked with an English speaking an Mexican illegal who was a school teacher down in Southern Mexico and came up each summer to help supplement his miserable income. He told me that the US would be insane to grant another mass amnesty. If you get to know them some illegals will tell that they know if there was another Amnesty the corrupt ruling class would overnight begin shipping the next wave north. Parts of southern Mexico and the Yucatan have places where low grade oil bubbles up to the surface. Someday soon that stuff will be worth Billions maybe Trillions You have to wonder if the plan is to send the peasants to El Norte/Atzlan and claim the bonanza for themselves. As a Democrat and non bong smoking liberal, my point is that Democrats make a big mistake believing that the left-wing White/Black/Latino/Asian indentity politics intelligensia and the professional activists truely represent the concerns and issues on the minds of the public. Just because the Kennedies, Ariana Huffington and Oprah love Barrak Obama does mean that working class blacks and certainly not Hispanic Citizens are going to support him on immigration in the general election. I am not saying Blacks are going vote for Republicans, they just won't vote in mass numbers needed to compensate for the loss of white voters. They vote by not voting. Like in 1988 no matter what Jesse Jackson said, average black folks were not going to vote for a "not sure what I would do if my wife was raped" white liberal. Inspite of all the blacks who Jackson helped register to vote in 1984/1988, blacks stayed home rather that vote for Dukakis. That is how a "I can't believe I losing to this guy" Dukakis got his ass stomped by a "Thousand Points of Light" preppie like GHWB in a crushing landslide.
