Hartford tea party draws 3000; Instapundit thinks that would worry Chris Dodd - 04/15/09
Glenn Reynolds opines (pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/76738): "Hartford Courant: Hartford Tea Party Draws Thousands. That can't make Chris Dodd feel any better" and links to the contention that 3,000 turned out at that event (link).
The stupidity of the tea parties rolls on, at much reduced rate - 03/30/09
1. Over the weekend, there were apparently just three "parties": Buffalo; Stamford, Connecticut; and Essex County, Massachusetts.
2. The aftermath of the one in Essex County is promoted by Glenn Reynolds at pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/75093 and pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/75109. About a hundred people showed up. The Congressman for that area appears to be John Tierney, a Democrat. In 2004, he got 213,000 votes and his GOP opponent got 91,000. That means that the 100 people represent 0.05% of the votes he got, and 0.1% of the votes his opponent got. I'm sure he's scared out of his wits.

Loretta Waldman: "L-e-n-i-n-'-s Obama's Letter Was Answer To A Little Boy's Request" - 10/31/08
Instead of concentrating on Barack Obama's creepy outreach to pre-teens where he wants to use those children 12 and under to get votes, how about some good news? You know, the kind you don't have to think about and that any hack (in this case Loretta Waldman of the Hartford Courant [1]) could write? Accordingly, here's her heart-warming tale (with an image of my choosing below):
Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal: let illegal aliens deprive U.S. citizens of college - 02/18/07
Randy James of the Waterbury Republican-American offers a PIIPPish article entitled "Illegals seek tuition break". On the 13th, several people traveled to Hartford, Connecticut to support a bill that would give them those breaks. As with similar articles, it starts with the tear-jerking:
Victoria Perez traveled to the state Capitol Tuesday to ask for a future... Perez, a senior at New Haven's Wilbur Cross High School, aspires to go to college next year to prepare for a career in criminal justice. But she has no idea how she'll foot the bill... The problem: She's in the United States...
John DeStefano linked to Mexico collaborators (CT governor race) - 10/27/06
New Haven mayor and Democrat John DeStefano [1] is running for governor of Connecticut against Republican incumbent M. Jodi Rell. DeStefano has several links to a New Haven group called "JUNTA for Progressive Action" [2], a group which is collaborating with the Mexican government. [3] That group also has links to several other organizations and community leaders.
Perhaps the closest link is that DeStefano's campaign manager is married to the head of JUNTA [4]:
Michael R. Blood / AP biased report on "National Day of Protest" - 01/08/06
The AP reports on the "National Day of Protest" against illegal immigration in the Drudge-linked "Few Drawn to Illegal Immigration Protests" [1] by Michael R. Blood. The very first paragraph contains a highly misleading statement:
Illegal immigration protests organized across the country Saturday drew small numbers, and some were outnumbered and out-shouted by those who support immigrant rights.
Do Connecticut McDonald's discriminate in favor of Hispanics? - 09/29/05
The Connecticut Citizens for Immigration Control did a bit of a study and determined that most employees of McDonalds in America's drive-throughest state are Hispanic. The study is available at their website in a PDF file, and it's not exactly an academic study, although it appears they visited all or almost all the Mickey D's in the state, many in one long day.
