After seven years at his post, Chicago's longest-serving Mexican consul general is moving on. "Chicago as an important global city," said Carlos Sada, Consul General of Mexico in Chicago. "most open and flexible. Therefore, embracing immigrants."

"Open and flexible" is apparently a synonym for "endemically corrupt".

Mexicans represent about 19 percent of the area's population. The Chicago Mexican consulate, which serves hundreds of thousands of Mexican immigrants, is the largest in the country, according to Sada.

...Immigration marches and immigration reform are important to Sada.

..."Chicago will not be what they project it to be unless they incorporate Mexico fully," said Sada.

Consul General Sada, who has been a diplomat for most of his adult life, served as consul general in San Antonio and Toronto before coming to Chicago. He is in the process of being appointed to a new post and it appears he will head to Washington D.C. next, where he plans to remain involved in immigration reform.

Sada's replacement is Manuel Rodriguez, who has served as ambassador to China, Belgium and Portugal. He will be here a few weeks.
