Jewish elites are still rabidly pro-Open Borders. Rank and file Jewish Americans see it differently. Check out the polling data over at http://www.cis.org/articles/2006/2006poll.html. While it is (still) true that Jewish Americans have relatively liberal views on immigration, on most of the polling questions a majority favor the more restrictive approach.

Also note the number of prominent Jewish Americans who signed John Fonte's call for immigration enforcement (http://www.hudson.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=publication_details&id=4074&pubType=HI_PressReleases). The folks over at Marginal Revolution (http://www.marginalrevolution.com/) have organized an "Open Letter on Immigration". Of course, they favor Open Borders even though they admit that the economic gains from mass immigration are trivial ("modest" is their word). They mostly ignore the negatives and really only offer one positive argument; immigration to the US benefits the immigrants. While true, this doesn't demonstrate much loyalty to the American people who suffer the painful consequences.

However, when it comes to their own blog, Openness is not much in evidence. Indeed, their is compelling evidence that Cowen/Tabarrok find free discussion of immigration rather unwelcome. Over the last four months some 453 topics have been posted to their site. Of these, 314 allowed comments. Roughly 25 of 453 topics were related to immigration. Of these, only 11 were open for comments. Indeed, of the last 13 immigration topics, only 4 had room for comments. It would appear that some topics are more comment worthy than others.

Now Cowen/Tabarrok can run their blog as they see fit. However, when it comes to immigration they definitely have some Goose and Gander problems.

eh is right, but the fact is the pigs have made the deal and will not follow any laws and want this nation made into the third world copy of mexico is not understood by most people is sad.

I think someone has already done a pretty good job of discrediting one of those blogs, at least on the topic of immigration.
