No, I'm pretty sure Salem, Oregon is in the U.S. Why do you ask?

After reading the Statesman Journal article "Waiting for documentation" I'm not so sure. Could Salem, Oregon have changed hands and is it now under the jurisdiction of Mexico? Let's find out:

Nearly 2,000 people converged on McKay High School on Saturday to obtain services from the Mexican government...

[...poetic bit deleted...]

Partnering with Oregon state agencies, the Mexican government's daylong event was an attempt to reach out to its rapidly growing community in the Mid-Willamette Valley.

Estevan Garcia Neri, 62, and four nephews were there for matricular consular cards, necessary to cash payroll checks and obtain driver's licenses...

Let's see if we can use the above to determine whether Salem, Oregon is still part of the U.S. or not. A foreign government set up a booth at a U.S. school in order to hand out ID cards specifically intended to allow Mexican citizens who are in the U.S. illegally to get U.S. driver's licenses. And, they partnered with Oregon state agencies to do it.

If you can locate any clues in the article that Salem, Oregon is still under the control of the U.S., please leave them in the comments.

I note also that almost exactly two years ago the same rag published a long AP lie entitled 'Hispanics get affordable car loans'. You ignore them for two years and they've only gotten worse.

Also, in case you think this was just an isolated event, read "Their money or your safety". That has several examples of a Mexican consul coming to small towns to hand out Mickey Mouse ID cards. Corrupt or just extremely ignorant local officials and papers lend them a hand in their efforts.

Myself and my family were thinking of moving to Salem. I was looking for pictures when I came across this. We live in Yakima, there is a serious problem here with grafiti, gangs, drugs ect. I'm sorry to say it but a very large majority of the people who partisipate are hispanics. I think that America is for anyone who wants to live here but I think its wrong to come here for a better life and end up bringing your B.S with you and turning OUR AMERICA into a ghetto. Is there anyone out there that will send me pictures of salems ghetto's?????

It makes me sad to see that ignorant people can find places to convey their ignorance for all the world to see. People complain because the government is helping illegal immigrants in Salem, Oregon obtain a matricular consular so they can get their driver's license. What is interesting to me is that the people complaining are the same people that make statements like "Mexicans never have car insurance". So here lies my confusion. How do you recommend they go about obtaining insurance with no driver's license? The other comment I have is this. Nobody sitting around judging other people based on where they were born is qualified to fill God's shoes, so quit trying. It makes me sick that so many American people have decided that we stole this land fair and square so now nobody else should be able to live here. Why should we get to decide where people live? You are only responsible for your own life, so if you have a problem with other races "invading your land" leave. I wouldn't miss your ignorance for one second.

For those not inclined to follow the link, the article is written by GABRIELA RICO, which helps explain things in part. Who the editors are, or what they are thinking, is another question.

Of course this sort of warm and fuzzy 'reporting' is not at all uncommon, but significantly more common, at least it seems so to me, in places where the Hispanic invasion has not reached the point it has in California and other parts of the country. The trouble is, by the time it does get to that point, and the huge problems associated with it -- the decline of schools, poverty and ghetto-ization, crime, gang violence, i.e. the general degradation you see in most areas of California these days -- are there for all to see, it is often too late to do anything about it, partly because politicians then seek to pander to what has become a significant population of at least potential voters.

But it is a shame to see this happening to more parts of America; it makes you wonder if there will soon be anywhere you can go to escape it.
