"Panel of experts outline how Arizona immigration law works" - 05/17/10
The Arizona Republic asked five who are familiar with the new Arizona immigration law for their opinions on whether the law would allow police to simply stop people at will and ask their status, with two saying yes and three saying no (link):
Three panelists said the initial reason for the contact must stem from some other suspected violation, such as speeding, drinking alcohol in a city park or, for juveniles, violating curfew... Lynn Marcus, director of the Immigration Clinic at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, said nothing prevents an officer from engaging someone...
Kyrsten Sinema book: "Unite and Conquer" (foreword by Janet Napolitano; reviews?) - 06/10/09
Kyrsten Sinema is a far-left Arizona state representative who, to the greatest extent that her low intellect allows, supports illegal immigration.
Arizona: some protesting illegal aliens would be "domestic terrorists" - 02/10/07
Some Republican legislators in Arizona have proposed an alternative to Kyrsten Sinema's recent proposal:
A group of conservative Republican state lawmakers want to classify as domestic terrorists protesting illegal immigrants who "intimidate" or "threaten" U.S. citizens.
The GOP bill would also classify members of Mexican or other foreign criminal gangs or drug cartels as domestic terrorists and classify violations as felonies.
The measure defines domestic terrorists as persons who are illegally in the U.S. and are part of criminal enterprises as well as protesters whose actions...
Kyrsten Sinema anti-Minuteman Project bill voted down - 02/05/07
Far-left loon and Arizona state Rep. Kyrsten Sinema recently introduced a bill that would have outlawed the Minuteman Project and similar groups and have them labeled "domestic terrorists". (That earned her the prestigious honor of being selected for our first "Working For Mexico, Or Just Acts Like It?" post).
As could be expected, it was voted down in their Homeland Security and Property Rights Committee by a vote of 7 to 3. All the Republicans voted against it, and they were joined by Democrat Cloves Campbell.
Sinema voted for her own bill, and she was joined by fellow Democrats Steve...
Kyrsten Sinema oppressed by Minuteman oppressors - 01/24/07
Arizona state Rep. Kyrsten Sinema recently introduced a bill that would turn civilian border patrols, neighborhood watches, and the like into felonies. Now, she claims that she's receiving threatening emails about it, and that may well be true. However, it's a standard leftie tactic to claim to be a victim and to try to portray all those on the other side as violent.
As for the article, 3TV/AZ Family must have good lawyers. The title of the article is "Local lawmaker receives threatening emails from Minutemen", which would lead one to believe that supposed reporter Claudia Rivero has actually...
Arizona Daily Star pimps "Immigration and America's Future" report - 01/21/07
The Arizona Daily (Red) Star offers an unsigned editorial called "Immigration reform in '07: fact or fiction?"
A new report should serve as a reminder aThe Arizona Daily (Red) Star offers an unsigned editorial called "Immigration reform in '07: fact or fiction?"
A new report should serve as a reminder β as if one is needed β that the United States' immigration system is broken and needs fixing. The 110th Congress should follow the report's recommendations and pass a comprehensive immigration-reform package this session.
As detailed at the second link, no less than three Mexican citizens -...
WFMOJALI: Kyrsten Sinema (Minutemen as "domestic terrorists") - 01/19/07
Welcome to yet another premiere, this time of the new WFMOJALI feature. Those initials stand for "Working For Mexico, Or Just Acts Like It?" On the one hand I don't think it's that likely that those to be featured are actually being paid by that government. But, on the other hand, it's difficult to tell the difference between their actions and those that an actual Mexican agent would perform.
Let's kick it off with Arizona state representative Kyrsten Sinema, a member of the Democratic Party and a former Green. Back in 2005 she was part of an ACLU of Arizona team which were "monitoring" the...
Maricopa County sued over anti-smuggling law; Mexico links - 11/22/06
A potential class action lawsuit has been filed by various groups against Maricopa County, Arizona (home of Phoenix) concerning a state law designed to stop human smuggling. Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas have been using that law to arrest and charge illegal aliens with smuggling themselves into the country. Since starting that earlier this year, they've managed 180 convictions (two by jury) out of 360 arrests.
