Occupy Wall Street helps John Stossel make them look bad; what they should have done
The video below shows John Stossel of Fox News discussing his recent visit to the Occupy Wall Street ("OWS") protests on the Bill OReilly show. On the clip, he makes OWS look bad to the Fox audience, and most people outside the Fox audience who see the video probably won't have a high opinion of OWS either. (A raw clip is here).
Instead of opposing Stossel effectively and showing people how he's wrong, the OWS protesters helped Stossel make OWS look bad. Which is presumably what they don't want: their movement would be served by making him look bad.
Since my own solo movement would also be served by making Stossel look bad, let me describe how they could have done that:
1. Find the smartest, most knowledgeable person among them, someone who's familiar with asking tough questions.
2. Make sure that everyone else is silent while that knowledgeable person asks Stossel a series of policy-based questions designed to make him or libertarians in general look bad.
For the long version of that plan, see the best way for Occupy Wall Street to be effective.
Video of them making Stossel look bad would have put OWS on the map. Instead, all they're doing is looking like a pack of brainless, feral thugs who need to silence those with whom they disagree rather than engaging them in debate. They want to set policy for the U.S., but they can't even show how someone with fringe ideas like Stossel is wrong?
