Gallup: just 20% more likely to vote for Mitt Romney due to his "47%" comments (even with Romney-friendly wording)

As it turns out, anti-American libertarian concepts about moochers and producers aren't too popular with the Americans. According to a new Gallup poll (link), just 20% say Mitt Romney's "47%" comments make them more likely to vote for him. 36% say they're less likely to vote for him, with 43% saying it makes no difference.

And, that's with wording that is Romney-friendly (probably unintentionally so). The question that was asked was this (bolding added):

As you may know, a video in the news today shows Mitt Romney speaking at a fundraiser earlier this year. In the video, Romney described Obama supporters by saying "there are 47 percent who are with Obama, who are dependent on government, who believe they are victims, and who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them." Do these comments by Mitt Romney make you more likely to vote for Romney, less likely to vote for Romney, or don’t they make a difference?

However, on the video Romney referred to "47 percent of the people", i.e., half of all Americans. The Gallup question might give respondents the false impression that Romney wasn't applying the 47% to the entire U.S. population.

The results from a question like this (my changes bolded) would probably be much worse:

As you may know, a video in the news today shows Mitt Romney speaking at a fundraiser earlier this year. In the video, Romney described Americans by saying "there are 47 percent who are with Obama, who are dependent on government, who believe they are victims, and who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them. ...And so my job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives." Do these comments by Mitt Romney make you more likely to vote for Romney, less likely to vote for Romney, or don’t they make a difference?

Hopefully another poll will have a more accurate wording, so we can judge just how well anti-American libertarian concepts poll with the Americans.
