NYT: Toothless yokels against Senate immigration grand compromise!
Previously I discussed how Julia Preston of the New York Times had gone to Michigan and discovered that the Senate's immigration bill isn't playing too well in the heartland, with the heartland striking back. However, I missed the photo to the right; it appears on the second page of the NYT's online report.
I don't want to call him a toothless yokel, but his facial expression makes him look a bit like a yokel, and he obviously is missing a few teeth. John and Ken are suggesting mailing in photos of yourself (assuming they're better as I'm no doubt sure).
As indicated at the first link, the NYT featured someone who supports mass deportations; combined with the photo, I think what they're getting at is clear. Note also that in the same article Preston uses some rather forceful words ("assault", "relentless", etc.) to describe the opposition; see another example here.

lonewacko, You must admit that there is a somewhat unintentional redeeming quality to the NYT article. It focused on anti-Comprehensive Immigration Reform opinion in the Midwest. Of course the article does not go on to attempt to discover why public sentiment against Illegal Immigration and Open Borders is running so strong throughout the Midwest. Nor does the article mention that there is absolutely no hope of the Democrats winning the White House in 2008 unless they carry the Midwest. Like I have said before. I have done hundreds and hundreds of GOTV for Democrats in the Midwest the last 4 election cycles. Ms. Preston and the NYT apparently believe as well that the majority of Democratic party's working and middle class voters are for "Comprehensive Immigration Reform", Open Borders, Multiculturalism, expanded labor arbitrage visas and Amnesty. Ms. Preston seriously can not find any African-Americans opposed to "CIR"?? If Democrats are delusional enough to believe that Open Borders pandering is a good platform to run on, they are simply asking to be crushed in the general election. The May 1st 2006 marches were the tipping point and a wake up calls to lots of mainstream liberal Democrats. You Republicans think your party is being torn apart by Immigration issues. Just wait until next summer when tens of thousands of Latino activists and radicals along with ANSWER and the Free MUMIA idiots show up in Denver demanding the Democratic party give them Amnesty .

wasn't the word Compromise used just before the last civil war? this amnesty bill is really evil in the way its put out to fool people, they really hate our freedoms and either we fight as a people if need be or we become mexico in all things. llamajockey, "You don't get it", if this bill becomes the Law of the Land we will never see a Free Election because the political system will fall into the hands of Our Enemies, the system will be used for a race hate platform for Mexico City and the NEXT Compromise will be to allow you to live inside THE LOST Nation once called the USA.

Nothing wrong with being sans a few teeth. Note this rather biased and amateurish sob story [1] about something covered here before [2].

"Like I have said before. I have done hundreds and hundreds of GOTV for Democrats in the Midwest the last 4 election cycles. Ms. Preston and the NYT apparently believe as well that the majority of Democratic party's working and middle class voters are for "Comprehensive Immigration Reform", Open Borders, Multiculturalism, expanded labor arbitrage visas and Amnesty." Does it disturb you in the slightest that the frontrunners for the Democrat Presidential nomination - Obama and Hillary - are full-bore amnesty-and-chain-migration supporters, oppose English as our national language and voted against the very reasonable concept proposed by Senator Cornyn that we ought not give amnesty to criminals and absconders from court orders? Lurking in the backlight of this issue, overshadowed by the bright glare of Bush's support for amnesty, is the fact that the Democrat party has bought into this, as part of the liberal multi-cultural package. Obama in particular is an open borders multi-cultural icon. "Just wait until next summer when tens of thousands of Latino activists and radicals along with ANSWER and the Free MUMIA idiots show up in Denver demanding the Democratic party give them Amnesty ." While the GOP tears itself apart, I don't even see any Democrat put up a fight against it. An Obama or Hillary victory will mean a Democrat party under the thumb of the open borders lobbies.
