Is the "immigration debate" about to turn nasty?

The post "Bush, Big Business to join forces, oppose wishes of American public" discussed Bush's latest plan to push for massive immigration: joining with large, corrupt corporations to create ads and what will most likely be similar propaganda to what we've come to expect from his administration.

Yesterday on KFI's John & Ken show, KOGO's Roger Hedgecock mentioned that he thinks they're going to go all out with the smears, including trying to portray pro-borders folks as akin to David Duke. He didn't provide more information, but, considering the money involved I wouldn't put stooping that low beyond them.

In perhaps an indication of what might be coming, or perhaps it's completely unrelated, see the 8/1 AP story "Hate groups turn focus on Hispanic immigrants". One way to read that story is as propaganda designed to smear those who oppose illegal immigration.

Of course, since the great majority of Americans oppose illegal immigration, it will be interesting to see what happens if the Bush administration starts calling those millions of people names. Perhaps in the end it will help millions of people see whose side many of our leaders are on.

If we catch the same illegal immigrant back in this country a second time we should lock him/her up in a holding pen for at least 60 days with only water and the barest life sustaining food. No medical care, no TV, no NOTHING. If this doesn't work then we must implement the death penalty for illegal immigrants with an expidited hearing process (notice I DID NOT say trial). By expidited I mean the entire process to take no more than 5 workin days.

As harsh as it may sound, if we (AMERICA) do not start taking drastic and firm measures we will soon be a bi-lingual, bi-cultural, bi-crap country much like France is today. We have AT LEAST 7,000,000 ILLEGAL immigrants in this country and approximately 2/3 of them are Mexicans. We must begin to use deadly force at our borders and to simply lock up EVERY illegal we can find in a HOLDING pen for at least 30 days before we send them back to mexico.

They've already shown us the next installment of the big new smear offensive against restrictionism of immigration. First off was the story that Tancredo wants to nuke Mecca. The other day it was the line that the minutemen are dominated by violent racists, based on some tableaux vivants in Laguna Beach where they took pictures of Nazis with flags. The establishment is shaken to its subbasement by the possibility that Tancredo could get the republican nomination, and that the Minutemen are popular. Shaky is the sedan chair of the Bush family, when it is carried by Mexicans!
