.@dkrae: after Katrina, Snopes tried to downplay "phantom cops", i.e., no-show jobs at the NOPD. When I tried to call them on it, they tried to cover up how they'd gotten it wrong. @Snopes lied & then covered it up. And, @alexismadrigal thinks they're "fact checkers".
