How out of touch is Morton Kondracke? - 01/10/06

MorTON! offers "Bush Must Talk Sense To Republicans On Immigration". He starts with a bad title and goes downhill: the ones who need sense are Bush's handlers and the corrupt elites that favor massive illegal immigration. Believe it or not, Morton wants Bush to co-opt Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt and Laura Ingraham, so that those fine hosts can then turn around and explain the wisdom of Bush's plans to the great unwashed out there beyond the beltway. Unfortunately, Kondracke doesn't discuss what those hosts would do when their ratings started to plummet. And, he...

Virginia: you can't trust Tim Kaine - 11/04/05

If you want a clear example, take a close look at this small PDF file. It looks like a GOP mailing, no? It's got the GOP elephant, it says it's "An important message for Virginia Republicans", and down there at the end it's got this: For more information on the Virginia Club for Growth and the Virginia Club for Growth PAC, you can check out the website at www.virginiaclubforgrowth.org. Virginia governor candidate Tim Kaine spins, misses on pro-illegal immigration stance - 10/29/05

The WaPo reports on a new ad from Republican Virginia gubanatorial candidate Jerry Kilgore in "Ad Attacks Kaine on Immigrant Issues". Obviously, it should be "illegal immigration issues", but, well, that's just how the WaPo sees things. "Illegal immigration: a growing crisis," the ad's narrator says. "Kaine favors taxpayer-funded job centers and supports in-state tuition discounts for illegals. Taxpayer benefits for illegal immigrants? What part of 'illegal' does Tim Kaine not understand?" They object to that ad: But Kaine's campaign aides said the ad distorts the facts. The Democrat has said...

VA: Kilgore, Kaine pledge to crack down on illegal alien employers - 09/15/05

On Tuesday, Virginia gubanatorial candidates Jerry W. Kilgore and Timothy M. Kaine debated with Tim Russert as moderator. One of the main topics was illegal immigration. They both pledged to crack down on businesses that knowingly hired illegal aliens, but somehow I trust Kilgore's pledge quite a bit more. Kaine wants localities to determine what's best for their communities. That would allow, for instance, Herndon to establish a day laborer hiring hall knowing full well that most of those using it were here illegally. Kilgore doesn't think that's right.
