Rand Paul's Tea Party SOTU response to promote massive immigration
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) will deliver the Tea Party response to the State of the Union speech. According to CNN, Paul will say the following:
"We are the party that embraces hard work and ingenuity, therefore we must be the party that embraces the immigrant who wants to come to America for a better future... We must be the party who sees immigrants as assets, not liabilities. We must be the party that says, 'If you want to work, if you want to become an American, we welcome you.'"
The GOP could do that and at the same time reduce legal immigration and try to sharply limit illegal immigration. But, Rand Paul has something else in mind: legalizing millions of illegal aliens and increasing legal immigration (see his name's link). That would be good for a small number of people who'd profit, such as growers and chicken processors. It would be great for the Democratic Party, who'd get millions more new voters.
However, it would be bad for millions of Americans who'd see their wages decline as a result of all that new competition. It would be bad for the millions of Americans who are unemployed. It would be bad for the GOP, who'd get fewer new voters than the Democrats would.
In case anyone is surprised that the Teaparties (in this case, Tea Party Express) are promoting policies that would harm the GOP and enrich a small number of people at everyone else's expense, see Tea Parties.
