Offensive Tea Party logo implies only they believe in the Constitution

Glenn Reynolds promotes (pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/93823) a new logo for the tea parties at classicalvalues.com/archives/2010/02/post_979.html, pictured. It says "The Tea Party Difference... The Constitution!" That implies that those not in the tea party don't support the Constitution, something that's not only patently false but highly offensive. The claim is also to some degree false about some or many tea partiers: "going Galt" is the opposite of patriotic, and some simply don't support our electoral system.

Needless to say, this is in line with the many other highly offensive statements and actions from tea partiers. For instance, another popular sign says "Don't spread my wealth, spread my work ethic", thereby implying that those who are unemployed are lazy bums. And, that slogan also papers over the actions of the Bush administration to increase the numbers of low-wage workers in the U.S.; many current tea partiers were Bush supporters and support loose borders.

Also, many in their movement refer to themselves as "patriots", thereby implying that those not in their movement are something else.

Whether this logo will take off remains to be seen; it's from the same person who designed the logo for the "Porkbusters" charade but it differs from that in not being in any way creative. There's also some dispute over who came up with the slogan in the first place.

I'm not sure many would find it "offensive".

Offense?! Socialism is offensive and so is liberalism. Many that are unemployed are victims of both.

hiscross is right and socialism become death camps down the line for the old and the helpless.
