Bad reporting by Scott C. Johnson for NatGeo
Former Newsweek reporter Scott Johnson offers "Texas Church Becomes Oasis for Central American Migrants, Their Children/Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McAllen has aided more than 5,000 migrants this summer" at National Geographic.
The word "aided" is deceptive, since in the main that church is making things worse for both the U.S. and Central America. They're reducing the chances of reform in Central America, and they're in effect encouraging kids to cross the desert. Not all of those kids make it across the desert alive.
Scott Johnson didn't have any contrary information in his report, so I'll help him with that side of things.
