Rep. Chris Cannon, great American and great Republican
Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT) did it again! At a forum in Washington, he boldly squared off against Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO). Rep. Cannon suggested of Tancredo: "I think he ought to consider his views and decide whether they're consistent with the Republican Party... I don't think there's a place in the Republican Party for racism, for xenophobia, for ideas that are fundamentally un-American..."
If it were possible to clone Rep. Chris Cannon, I know I'd be for it. You can read more about this fine upstanding American in these posts:
Rep. Chris Cannon is off the immigration subcommittee
Utah's loose Cannon is "working like crazy"
"[Rep. Chris] Cannon [R-UT] drums on immigration despite voters" (the AILA is a major contributor and helped him write legislation)
And, my personal favorite link for other fans of the Great American:

Look at the irrationality of Cannon's approach; just demented ad hominem smears. If the republican party is an exclusionistic organization, and such that they might say that there is no place for patriots there, on what basis may they logically oppose other exclusionisms? The vile part is that the right has with, all the swiftness of the profoundly retarded, learned to ape the minicastroite, Marcusian method of refusing to offer rational arguments; while saying that all who disagree are racist, xenophobic, etc. Cannon wouldn't know one psychological condition or phobia from another; but even if he had the least qualification in that area, he would still have lost the debate by using ad hominem, when rational disputation is to be expected.

What kind of "conservative" is contemptuous of his nation's borders and immigration laws? Answer: the kind of "conservative" beloved of left-wing caricatures- someone completely beholden to monied interests.

I am glad that there are people like Cannon involved in the decision making process in this country.

I posted a story on my blog earlier tonight, about Taiwan being worried about illegal immigration, and I also slammed Cannon. Here is a link:
