Time Magazine's Swampland

Blog run by Time Magazine and currently located at swampland.blogs.time.com. In late 2008 they moved the site from time-blog.com/swampland and in so doing deleted all the comments on all older entries. Whether that was a matter of their technical people being unable to do something as basic as transferring over comments or an intentional means of hiding all the comments pointing out how they were wrong isn't known.

Those posting at Swampland include Joe Klein, Karen Tumulty, Ana Marie Cox, Michael Scherer, Jay Newton Small, and Mike Murphy.

Steve Schmidt should find a new line of work (immigration and the failed John McCain campaign) - 11/10/08

Steve Schmidt - former chief strategist of the John McCain campaign - was interviewed by Ana Marie Cox about the various failures he was involved in and presumably he tries to defend himself against charges that he's completely incompetent; I didn't bother reading the whole thing (link) since this bit is all we need: If you look at the returns from the southwestern and mountain west states, with...

How *you* can help Barack Obama finally win this thing - 10/24/08

... time even signing up for Time's Swampland or similar MSM sites where you can leave comments in an attempt to discredit MSM reporters. Because of the fact that you ignore Time and the Washington Post and similar sources, that automatically means that what they write has no impact on anyone else. 18. Don't provide a fact-based argument pointing out Obama's ties to the largely unrepentant terrorist...

Joe Klein misleads about Barack Obama's relationship with Bill Ayers - 10/16/08

... stupidest are at Time Magazine's Swampland. A few days ago, Ana Marie Cox lied about (and later corrected) something someone said at a McCain rally. Today, repeat liar and explicit illegal immigration supporter Joe Klein is being extremely misleading about Barack Obama's relationship with Bill Ayers.

Ana Marie Cox/Time lies about quote at McCain rally - 10/11/08

... Marie Cox of Time Magazine's Swampland offers "McCain Denounces Pitchfork-Wavers", yet another example of how McCain capitulating to the Democrats is a very bad idea (time-blog.com/swampland/2008/10/mccain_denounces_pitchforkwave.html). The update to that post says: Indeed, [John McCain] just snatched the microphone out the hands of a woman who began her question with, "I'm scared of Barack...

Scott Shane/NYT's pro-BHO spin on Bill Ayers/Barack Obama collaboration - 10/04/08

... attempt to deceive (time-blog.com/swampland/2008/10/embarracuda.html). Needless to say, he downplays the Obama-Ayers connection and even works in a BHO talking point about how BHO was just a child when the Weather Underground were terrorizing the U.S.: Over the weekend, [Sarah Palin] picked up on an article in The New York Times, which essentially says that Barack Obama and the former terrorist...

Barack Obama lies about Rush Limbaugh in Spanish-language ads - 09/17/08

The Barack Obama campaign has a new Spanish-language ad that features racial demagoguery and a distortion of Rush Limbaugh quotes. You can see the ad here: "They want us to forget the insults we've put up with, the intolerance," the television ad's announcer says in Spanish as a picture of Rush Limbaugh appears onscreen with quotes of him saying, "Mexicans are stupid and unqualified" and "Shut...

How to fight MediaMatters, far-left smears (Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage) - 10/02/07

The far-left is on the warpath, with General Wesley Clark calling for Rush Limbaugh to be removed from Armed Forces Radio as part of a followup to a MediaMatters-originated smear.

Joe Klein/Time Magazine: just a sleazy liar - 05/31/07

In his latest column, Joe Klein of Time Magazine discusses Mitt Romney, and says: [Romney] has flipped on immigration, to better suit the Mexican-fearing tendencies of a segment of the Republican base. That's a sleazy statement which tries to give the impression that opposition to massive illegal activity and massive public and private corruption is due to xenophobia and racism. Now for an...

Swampland, but without Wonkette (Ana Marie Cox)? - 05/07/07

... and a contributor to their blog Swampland. Now, there's something you can do about it! Simply use Firefox with the Greasemonkey extension, together with this handy-dandy script that will remove all posts by Wonkette from Swampland. This is unsupported and barely tested, but it seems to work. Simply copy it into a file named something like 'wonkette.user.js', and drag that file into a Firefox...

Presidential healthcare forum: Bill Richardson for illegal aliens; more media malfeasance - 03/24/07

There was a big "presidential" healthcare forum in Las Vegas earlier today, but it looks like the only one who attended were from the Democratic Party. Realizing that I didn't watch it and I'm only relying on a few blogger reports, it looks like there was probably more debate involved at the Third Plenary Soviet. The moderator was Karen Tumulty of Time, and you can read her nearly content-free...
