Jerry Brown gives drivers licenses to illegal aliens in Obama's amnesty (Gil Cedillo, AB2189)

California governor Jerry Brown yesterday signed AB2189, a bill that gives drivers licenses to the illegal aliens who'll be admitted into Obama's amnesty program.

This is a partial victory for Assemblyman Gil Cedillo, a supposed representative of U.S. interests who actually frequently acts more like a paid agent of the Mexican government. Cedillo has been pushing to get drivers licenses into the hands of the illegal aliens he represents so long, he's nicknamed "One Bill Gil". And, Brown signed a variant of his one bill.

From [1]:

"It is a victory for those who were brought here through no choice of their own, played by the rules, and are only asking to be included in and contribute to American society," Cedillo said in a statement.

He said California is the first state to grant drivers' licenses to the group singled out under the Obama administration's policy. Cedillo praised Brown for choosing "public safety over politics" by signing the bill.

"President Obama has recognized the unique status of these students, and making them eligible to apply for driver's licenses is an obvious next step," Brown spokesman Gil Duran said.

This shows the fallacy of those who think that limited amnesties will work: those who support illegal immigration will "eat the elephant one bite at a time". The Democratic Party and others will give benefits to those covered by Obama's "temporary" amnesty and will push to extend their terms and put them on the "path to citizenship". That's why even limited versions of the DREAM Act have to be opposed: those who want race-based power will simply keep pushing until they get what they want. They have to be discredited, not compromised with.
