Former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina recently announced her candidacy as a Republican for senator from California; she's trying to unseat Barbara Boxer. While the latter is a highly worthy goal, she appears to be a globalist, profits-at-any-cost supporter of massive immigration at least of the skilled variety.

Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman is apparently like a talking doll you might find on that site, except in this case she says pro-business, pro-massive/illegal immigration talking points. Speaking at the border (link): [She said] it is “simply not practical” to deport the estimated 12.5 million illegal immigrants living and working in the United States. (note: see deportations false choice) The candidate, 53, said the solution is to find a mechanism that allows them to live here legally. "Can we get a fair program where people stand at the back of the line (note: see immigration line), they pay a...

Will Jerry Brown far-left radio diatribes be used by Gavin Newsom, GOP to portray themselves as mainstream? - 10/21/09

For three years in the 90s, former California governor Jerry Brown had a radio program Berkeley's far-left KPFA. Jack Chang of the Sacramento Bee has obtained copies of some of the programs (link, see [1]) and is ready to reveal some of their shocking contents. He speculates that Gavin Newsom (a strong illegal immigration supporter) and the GOP might use the excerpts against Brown. For instance, consider this shocking bit: [Brown] said U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, both Democrats, had "sold out" U.S. truck drivers by letting their Mexican counterparts drive uninspected...

Corrupt Arnold Schwarzenegger praises illegal aliens, "happy" they get services, says only have small role in California's problems; Cedillo pleased - 06/06/09

This is corruption in action: Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday disputed claims that illegal immigrants caused California's $24.3 billion deficit, while he praised their economic contributions and said he is "happy" they have access to services. ...In response to dozens of questions from readers who say the state ought to wipe out the deficit by eliminating services for illegal immigrants, the governor said it is a "myth" that those immigrants are to blame. He said the cost of services to illegal immigrants, which has been estimated at $4 billion to $5 billion annually, is a "small...

California: lowest Standard & Poor's bond rating of all the states - 02/05/09

Most U.S. states have Standard & Poor's bond ratings of "AA" or "AAA". After that comes "A-plus", and that's the rating California used to have. Now, we've been downgraded to just "A", the lowest of all the states (link). Previously we'd been neck-and-neck with Louisiana, but now we're even worse. Moody's has CA and LA still tied for last place in their ratings, but they hint that might change.

George Skelton: illegal aliens are a drain on California, so let's legalize them - 02/02/09

George Skelton of the Los Angeles Times offers "Illegal immigrants are a factor in California's budget math" (link). On the one hand, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to get some truth into the LAT's pages, in this case his number-crunching which concludes that "the state spends well over $5 billion a year on illegal immigrants and their families." That includes California-specific programs which were pushed through by the might-as-well-be Mexican agents in the legislature. On a hopeful note, he says this near the end: My view is this: These people are here illegally and shouldn't be,...

Schwarzenegger helps banks profit from illegal activity ("Bank on California") - 12/14/08

California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has launched a program called "Bank on California" that seeks to give bank accounts to 100,000 of the "unbanked": those who currently don't have either a checking or savings account. However - right on their front page (bankoncalifornia.ca.gov) - the program states that it accepts as ID the Mexican government's Matricula Consular card, a form of identification that's basically only of use to illegal aliens. In brief, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the state of California are actively helping banks profit from money that was earned illegally.

Does Tanya Schevitz understand and support fundamental American concepts? (Chris Patti, Claudia Keith) - 09/16/08

Tanya Schevitz of the San Francisco Chronicle offers "Undocumented students' college aid in jeopardy" (link) about the recent ruling reinstating a suit over the California law giving in-state tuition to illegal aliens. That law is explicitly anti-American: it gives citizens of foreign countries who are here illegally a better deal than some U.S. citizens, and laws like that prevent some U.S. citizens from going to college. In other words, illegal aliens take a chance at college from U.S. citizens. Such laws are a direct attack on the fundamental concept of citizenship. The title of the...

Bill Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger promote corruption, try to fool people about "unbanked" program - 01/24/08

Bill Clinton and Arnold Schwarzenegger join forces to offer "Beyond Payday Loans". The two promote plans to help the "unbanked" (those without checking accounts), and in so doing completely mislead about the seemy underbelly of their proposals: the San Francisco program they mention is designed in large part to give banking services to illegal aliens. They don't even hint at that: ...[The American dream] is harder to achieve for millions of Americans because they spend too much of their hard-earned money on fees to cash their paychecks or pay off high-priced loans meant to carry them over...
