Replicated news nuggets for Stardate -314394.52

* Earlier I raised the possibility that the hippie movement was a Communist plot. I want to take this opportunity to stress that these guys were probably not in on it. However, the effects of this were so delitirious that the Soviets must have been involved in some way.

* Why have none of our valiant class action lawyers challenged one of those "Free Beer... tomorrow" signs? While I've never seen one in person, the attempt to present a humorous impossible condition fails since the point in time at which the sign is viewed is discrete. Thus, if I see it on a Friday, the rules of time tell us that "today" is Friday, and that Saturday - the next day - is "tomorrow". Time is, leaving aside general relativity, an ordered sequence of days, one after the other. Thus, the sign directly promises free beer "tomorrow", where "tomorrow" is per the agreement of everyone on Earth the day after today, and when the sign is viewed is a discrete day known as "today".

* Does anyone really know what a woodchuck is, much less how much wood it can chuck? Don't they mostly keep to themselves?
