Official: EU opposed to border fence

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana on Tuesday criticized U.S. plans to extend barriers along its border with Mexico, saying immigrants should not be treated like criminals.

"A wall that separates one country from another is not something that I like or that the European Union members like," Solana said at a news conference in Mexico City. "We don't think walls are reasonable instruments to stop people from crossing into a country."

The EU believes immigrants should be treated "like people, not like criminals," he said...
This is probably part pan-Hispanic, and part what you'd expect someone involved in a transnational organization to say. An official from a somewhat forced, sovereignty-sapping organization probably isn't inclined to support the sovereignty of the U.S. On the other hand, part of it might also be an attempt to weaken the U.S. by encouraging even more illegal immigration.

In any case, it's great to know what he thinks, and on behalf of Americans everywhere I thank him for his treasured input.

If 20 or 30 million undocumented, unskilled, "immigrants" moved into Denmark or Switzerland, or ? If they couldn't speak the language, took the jobs, and killed 20 of the locals, everyday? Then demand you change your language, grant them citizenship plus a free ticket to any services they want? I think his tune might change pretty fast. Yeah, thanks for the input. BUILD THE WALL.

Interestingly enough, the EU is about as anti-democratic as you can get. Who listens to them anyway?

I bet Mr. Solana has a really nice tall wall around all of his houses-wherever they are. I wish somebody would publish his home address(s), I sure some nice Serbs would like to pop in & say hello.

That's the attitude that not only has destroyed the once great British government and country...not to mention, France, Australia, Norway, etc.....We at least have insight into their own stupidity and multiculturalism to see how really insane it is and try to prevent the same insanity in our own country. I watched a CSpan hearing last night where the EU was complaining about the US detaining terrorists and shipping them to other countries...(.I didn't know that started Under Clinton by the way.)..but anyway Rohrbacher seemed to be the only one in the US side more concerned with protecting Americans. The EU's stupidity has caused the dissolution of western countries in Europe.....we needn't cut our throats like they have.

Solana's home country of Spain has walls around its two North African enclaves of Ceuta and Mellila. They are there, of course, to keep illegal immigrants out of EU territory.

We don't treat immigrants like criminals. We treat ILLEGAL immigrants like criminals. ILLEGAL = CRIMINAL
