Shikha Dalmia still not credible on immigration (Part 2)

Shikha Dalmia of Forbes shows once again why she isn't a trustworthy source, this time by offering "Arizona's Un-American Immigration Law" [1]. (Note: see the last link for our recent extensive coverage of that law).

In the latest, she complains about the AZ law "represent[ing] the conservative agenda to install a European-style surveillance state", something that is obviously false. However, the partial responsibility for the current law lies with libertarians, to the extent that they have any power. By encouraging massive illegal activity they've made the situation in Arizona intolerable for many Arizonans, and those Arizonans have responded. If, instead of supporting anarchy on the border - through such things as smearing those who want to enforce our immigration laws - libertarians had supported reasonable enforcement, the current law would not have gotten as much support.

Further, Dalmia would make many of the situations that Arizonans - all 70% or so of them - don't want to tolerate any more even worse. Her anti- and un-American dream of open or very loose borders would lead to even more over-crowding, even more crime, and an even greater entrenchment of the drug trade.

And, for the libertarians, all of the labor that she's supporting would be highly subsidized; a supposed libertarian is - at the end of the day - supporting subsidized labor rather than the free market.

Sheikha Damlia would make the situation worse, and that might cause Arizonans to be in favor of something that truly was near a police state in order to keep a control over their state. They might not be able to do it however: Shiekha Dolmia's anti- and un-American dream would allow cohesive foreign countries to in effect colonize parts of the U.S.; in the case of Arizona, it would not be very difficult for Mexico to indeed recapture their "lost territories" in one way or another and obtaining partial or full effective control over that (then-former) U.S. state.

Dalmia could care less: as with most other libertarians, her loyalty isn't to the U.S. but to her aberrant ideology.
