Melissa Harris-Perry is hardly "America's foremost public intellectual" (Ta Nehisi Coates) - 01/09/14

Here's yet another reason Ta Nehisi Coates (see the link) isn't credible: he says Melissa Harris Perry of MSNBC is "America's foremost public intellectual". Not only that, but he's willing to play the race card to defend his claim [1].

Brewer signs Arizona immigration law; far-left begins opposition (MALDEF, America's Voice, Phil Gordon) - 04/23/10

Earlier today, Arizona governor Jan Brewer signed into law the tough immigration bill from Russell Pearce (link).

Read about CIR ASAP: "Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009" (Luis Gutierrez) - 12/11/09

[A DISCUSSION OF SOME OF THE PROVISIONS IS HERE, AND MORE UPDATES ARE BELOW] On Tuesday, December 15, 2009 Rep. Luis Gutierrez will introduce an amnesty bill called the "Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009". His announcement (luisgutierrez.house.gov/PRArticle.aspx?NewsID=1406) provides no details, however: 1. Details on the bill will be provided here when it becomes available; expect it to be a bit on the far-left side and expect it to not go very far, except perhaps if it's watered down. In the latter case it might present a problem. 2. The way...

Grijalva bill might restrict Border Patrol in Arizona; contact your reps (H.R. 324) - 09/22/09

Numbers USA informs us (link) that Rep. Raul Grijalva's Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area Act (H.R. 324) "would cover a gigantic area of Arizona" - including illegal immigration corridors - but it doesn't provide for the Border Patrol: The Border Patrol is increasingly being limited in its enforcement on various park lands. Promoters of illegal immigration inside the federal government seem to be on a trend of turning parks into sanctuaries for illegal alien traffic. The fear is that the H.R. 324 designation will be used to prevent the Border Patrol from setting up communication towers...

"Enough is Enough!" anti-Lou Dobbs campaign from Democracia Ahora (DNC link, Obama too?; Bendixen) - 09/18/09

In addition to the Drop Dobbs campaign, another group is starting their own push in an attempt to silence Lou Dobbs. This group has links to the Obama administration and the Democrats that are slightly closer than the other, and given that Obama lied about Lou Dobbs during the election, it would be interesting to know the degree to which there's any coordination. The campaign is from Democracia Ahora - run by Jorge Mursuli - and is called "Enough is Enough!" (TellCNNEnoughisEnough.com). They commisioned Sergio Bendixen's firm to conduct what amounts to an extraordinarily biased push-poll of...

Glenn Reynolds stoops to promoting giving politicians "bunny ears" - 07/12/09

Glenn Reynolds promotes the following picture at pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/81724, and it's difficult to find the words to describe just how pathetic it is. The picture shows someone wearing a Tucson tea party t-shirt standing behind Rep. Raul Grijalva and holding up two fingers in a "bunny ears" sign.

Raul Grijalva considered for Interior Secretary in Obama administration (Juliet Eilperin/WaPo) - 11/23/08

Juliet Eilperin of the Washington Post informs us (link) the Democratic U.S. Representative Raul Grijalva is in the running to be Secretary of the Department of the Interior. See the link for much more on him, including the fact that he's a strong supporter of illegal immigration and a proud former member of the racial separatist group MEChA. Needless to say, Eilperin doesn't tell her readers that: Grijalva's experience and background meshes nicely with some of the Obama team's top requirements. The son of a migrant worker who grew up in Tucson, Grijalva boasts a strong environmental record...

Raul Grijalva, Congressional Hispanic Caucus: lack of immigration "reform" is "spineless" - 04/24/08

Yesterday the Congressional Hispanic Caucus complained about the failure of other Democrats to support "comprehensive immigration reform", aka a massive amnesty. ...Rep. Raul Grijalva of Arizona called the Democratic caucus "spineless." "Today my party wants to do what is easy, not exactly what is right," said Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois. "The leaders in our party who are arguing for consideration of helping just a few immigrants are risking the future of all immigrants." Rep. Joe Baca, D-Calif., who chairs the Hispanic Caucus, said the visa and other bills under consideration were "...

Bennie Thompson, Dingell, Conyers, Reyes, Ortiz, other Democrats support Sierra Club lawsuit over border fence (DHS, environmental waiver) - 04/08/08

A cast of Congressional characters (all Democrats; listed below) intends to file an Amicus Curiae brief in the case where the Sierra Club and the Defenders of Wildlife are suing the Department of Homeland Security to prevent them from using apparently congressionally-mandated waivers that would let the DHS bypass environmental and related rules in order to build sections of the border fence. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee attempts to portray this as a Constitutional matter: this waiver by the Secretary of Homeland Security is a direct challenge to Congress’s...

George W. Bush, Raul Grijalva support "comprehensive immigration reform" together - 04/26/07

Yesterday, Bush met with members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, including former MEChA member Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), who says: "As much as I malign the president, I thought he was receptive... He was engaged in the conversation, asked questions and continued to make a commitment to comprehensive reform... ...We support [the Flake-Gutierrez STRIVE Act] very strongly, and we support the fact that this has to get done this year." No word is given on Bush's support for STRIVE, but it appears they were all on the same page when it comes to amnesty in general. Grijalva didn't show for...

Citizenship Promotion Act of 2007 (Barack Obama) - 03/09/07

On Wednesday, Sen. Barack Obama introduced the "Citizenship Promotion Act of 2007". This important story was overshadowed by the most likely unimportant story about his stock holdings [1]. The CPA could be described as a "New Democrats Initiative/Funding Source for Possibly Foreign-Linked Pro-Illegal Immigration Groups" bill, and perhaps some reporters should have asked Obama and his co-horts about that.

Tucson Citizen endorses former MEChA member Raul Grijalva - 10/20/06

The Tucson Citizen has endorsed U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva in his reelection bid for Arizona's Congressional District 7. He's running against Ron Drake (Republican) and Joe Cobb (Libertarian). Grijalva is not just a former MEChA member, he's proud of his membership in that group. MEChA wants to "liberate" "Aztlan" (the supposed homeland of the Aztecs, which just happens to coincide with the U.S. southwest and parts of Mexico). And, of course, he's a Democrat.

Democrat Raul Grijalva + Mexican government-linked Derechos Humanos at forum - 08/04/06

Representative Raul Grijalva - an Arizona Democrat and a proud former member of the racial separatist group MEChA - will be appearing at an immigration forum hosted by the groups Derechos Humanos and National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
