Jose Antonio Vargas

Jose Antonio Vargas is a former reporter for various services [1] who "came out" as an illegal alien in 2011. Vargas has wide elite support; the elites use him to put a human face on illegal immigration. That's despite Vargas not being very good at that role: it's surprising that the elites haven't ditched him for someone capable of making something similar to a cogent argument.

Since his announcement, Vargas has conducted campaigns supporting the anti-American DREAM Act, supporting the highly-flawed comprehensive immigration reform plan, opposing immigration enforcement, and opposing the use of the term "illegal immigrant".

In October 2012, Vargas was stopped for a minor traffic violation. The Department of Homeland Security's ICE was contacted but refused to deport him, saying:

"Mr. Vargas was not arrested by ICE, nor did the agency issue a detainer. ICE is focused on smart, effective immigration enforcement that prioritizes the removal of public safety threats, recent border crossers and egregious immigration law violators, such as those who have been previously removed from the United States."

Vargas is only a threat insofar as few others are willing and able to take the easy steps of showing how he's wrong.
