... purchasing that toll road are Cintra SA and Macquarie Infrastructure Group (link). The first is Spanish, the second is Australian. To those like Reason that doesn't matter: all that counts is that they've got the money and concerns about foreign countries controlling vital infrastructure are completely unimportant.

Macquarie buys Texas newspaper chain (Trans-Texas Corridor) - 01/28/07
... with the Spanish conglomerate Cintra. The latter company will operate the Trans-Texas Corridor, and one of Macquarie's subsidiaries has just bought a chain of 40 small Texas newspapers, some of which were critical of the TTC. Dallas Morning News President Jeremy L. Halbreich started the chain, and he'll stay on in a management capacity.
