Poll: majority supports Mitt Romney on immigration, including 24% of Hispanics

A Quinnipiac University poll [1] asked "Regardless of how you intend to vote, who do you think would do a better job - on immigration, Barack Obama or Mitt Romney?" Here are the results:

Tot Rep Dem Ind Men Wom Wht Blk Hsp
Obama 39% 10% 72% 33% 36% 42% 32% 76% 53%
Romney 43 76 12 48 48 38 51 11 24
DK/NA 18 14 17 20 16 20 18 13 24

Obviously, what the don't know/no answer numbers mean is up in the air, in part because Romney's immigration position is up in the air. Regarding Hispanics, this shows that Romney being "tough" on immigration (per his opponents) hasn't hurt him all that much. However, the number of Hispanics who support Obama on the issue could rise as the establishment media cranks up their campaign against Romney, something his representatives aren't able to oppose effectively.
