Ex-Village Voice CEO Michael Lacey charged with pimping (Backpage.com)

Former Village Voice Media CEO Michael Lacey left to form Backpage dot com. an online site similar to Craigslist. He and others have now been charged with pimping-related charges [1]:

Backpage . com CEO Carl Ferrer, who has been locked in a heated contempt battle with a Senate panel probing his site's alleged facilitation of child prostitution and sex trafficking, was arrested in Texas Thursday on criminal pimping charges.

Ferrer, 55, had just flown into George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, from Amsterdam when he was taken into custody on the California warrant, according to a statement from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Ferrer was arrested on a 10-count complaint charging him with pimping conspiracy, pimping, pimping of a minor and attempted pimping of a minor - all stemming from his operation of the Backpage website.

The same complaint, issued in Sacramento Superior Court on September 26, also charges two shareholders in the classified advertising site - Michael Lacey and James Larkin - with pimping conspiracy.

Lacey was previously mentioned here in 2010, when Lacey underwrote the ACLU suit's against Arizona over their anti-illegal immigration law SB1070. Larkin is a former Executive Editor from Village Voice Media, and both had run-ins with Joe Arpaio. As discussed on the American Civil Liberties Union page, the ACLU is directly linked to the Mexican government and their immigration stance serves the interests of that government, big banks, and big business.

California AG Kamala Harris - also a big illegal immigration supporter - was also involved in the charges.
