Thompson has to know how her readers would respond to the red meat of Rand Paul speaking on the Laura Ingraham show: by mocking both instead of treating a potential public health nightmare with the concern it's due. She should have realized how her readers would respond and taken steps to mitigate their trained behaviors. Because she didn't, Catherine Thompson is helping downplay Ebola possibly turning into a major health crisis in the U.S.
