Questions about the Knight-Mozilla OpenNews/NYT/WaPo commenting system
The "Knight-Mozilla OpenNews" is a joint venture between the Knight Foundation (started by a founder of Knight Ridder) and Mozilla (makers of Firefox). They're working with the Washington Post and the New York Times on a new commenting system "that will make it easier for readers to post comments and photos on news sites and to interact with journalists and each other" ( peekURL.com/zJ6Txsb ).
None of the groups just listed have open debate as a goal, and reporters tend to avoid being asked tough questions as assiduously as they avoid asking them. But, I might be wrong in this particular case, so I'll ask some questions designed to assess how the system will work.
