James Hohmann of Politico offers "Alison Lundergan Grimes’ coal miner? A European model". An agency contracted by Senate challenge Grimes' campaign used a stock image from a Ukrainian photographer, but switched to a similar scene from an American photographer for the actual mailer.
Things like this capture the imagination of many people, but so do trash TV celebrities.
