Have you ever considered becoming a florist?

Well, it looks like I'm still out of town, so a question: have you ever considered the work of a florist?

UPDATE: A word of explanation. The title is a take-off on a question from the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory); a purported copy of which can be found here.

I once did, and I also used to deliver flowers for a sort of high-end florist about 20 years ago. It's not a bad environment at all to work in. Great smells, happy people, lots of flowers everywhere. From what I could tell, though, owning a flower shop is not an easy way to make a decent living. My boss was pretty successful, as far as attracting business goes, and had two shops in the L.A. area, but even towards the end of his career I don't think he was ever able to save much.
