Could Vermont secede from the United States?

The Boston Globe reports on the Vermont Independence Convention, which was attended by 100 Vermonters, most of them intent on seceding from this very country. From one of the supporters:

"Vermont still provides a communitarian alternative to the dehumanized mass production, mass consumption, narcissistic lifestyle which pervades most of the United States."

Etc. etc. Needless to say, the DUmmies support this plan.

Obviously, there's little popular support for this. That contrasts with the situation in the Southwest U.S. where demographics, foreign meddling, and "multiculturalism" will make some form of secession highly likely decades from now.

Those in Vermont are just wacky loons. Those who hasten the situation in the Southwest should be considered something else entirely.
