Pictures from the L.A. River Ride on May 18, 2003

Pictures from the Ride are here. "Damn roadies" is meant in good humor, and reflects the fact that I didn't see anyone else on a mountain bike like I was. The ariding shot was taken by strapping my camera bag to my chest; while riding I took the camera out and took a few shots. I was a little uncomfortable with that arrangement, so I stopped for the rest of the shots. I wish I'd gotten better shots, but a) there weren't an awful lot of riders, and b) I was for the most part concentrating on getting to the LBC. Last year's pics are here.

Hey, I didn't know you were a cyclist. It's obviously not a secret. I just didn't know.

Three questions:

1) Get a road bike for the pavement so fellow cyclists don't laugh at you riding a mountain bike on the hard stuff, okay?

2) You didn't wear a Mad Max mountain Crash Dummy suit during this road event, did ya?

3) Is it hard to pedal that Queen Mary thingie?

And one piece of advice from a roadie:

When on the pavement, keep the rubber side down. Some mountain bikers forget this sage advice only to become career jackasses on the big screen.

Hmmm. Let's see. Lonewack-o, Steve-O. Lonewack-o, Steve-O. Has a rythmic rhyming ring of dittoness to it, no? What the heck does that mean, anyway? Ahhh, nevermind.

Have you ever had the urge to staple your scrotum to your thigh while you were on a stage in front of an audience?
