Lott: put troops on the borders

According to this article, Soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., shook up the homeland security debate Thursday afternoon by saying his supported deploying the U.S. military to guard America's borders...

Most likely a violation of Posse Comitatus, but certainly an interesting idea. I'm sure he means both borders.

I am a conservative and understand the agrument saying we should take out Saddam. I am behind US actions so far in the War on Terrorism, even though all we are doing in the world is sweeping around dirt but not getting to the heart of the matter.

All that said nothing of this solves America's biggest problem illegal immigration. We have 1,500,000 people a year crossin the border from Mexico illegaly every year into the US.

I support legal immigration but this is illegal immigration out of control. Go down to Texas and other states and see the tears in the eyes of whites, blacks, asians and every other group you can think of when the Mexicans take there jobs. I blame the US government and the people who would hire them.

All those Harvard Ivy League elitist class for some reason resist control on immigration. The elitist class are not losing the jobs the middle class is when the jobs go to Mexicans. They can do all the studies they want but the simple fact is when a Mexican comes to the US they work for less and that means people loose jobs.

The US government is doing nothing about this and it is time we stop it. Osama Bin Laden, Saddam, the Ayattolah's in Iran, our dependence on foriegn oil all are nothing compared to open borders.

September 11, 2001 proved our immigration policies are horrible. The INS ended up sending out new documents to the terrorist who had flew the planes into the World Trade Center. Now the INS still stands. Look at the border with Canada there you only see border agents at tolls. I could walk into America screeming "here I come" with a gun in one hand shooting in the air, using the other hand to light fireworks and no one would stop me.

We need to let our leaders here the message: we can only be pushed so far before we react. A country that cannot control the borders is not a country. Iraq can wait lets clean up the borders.
