Take action now:

The tea parties aren't just for extremist libertarian Randroids. Oh, no. Of course not.

The video at [SEE UPDATE] shows a tea party organizer from Seattle reading a Randroid rant she wrote complaining about redistribution in relation to Obama healthcare. She wants people to be left alone rather than some being "plundered" in order to fund UHC. At root, her argument isn't just with excessive redistribution, with pork, with connected contractors, with the social negatives of redistribution, with the Democrats using it to obtain and maintain power, or all the rest. Seemingly she would oppose most any form of redistribution, and that's highlighted by her use of "plunder" and "taking". That's definitely not an invalid argument, and she's not spacey like her. However, she's living in a fantasy world if she thinks that even a small number of Americans would choose to live out her dream. And, it shows the extent to which the tea parties and those in their orbit are open to Randroid concepts.

And, it shows the extent to which the tea partiers/libertarians/Ron Paul supporter types rely on stunts rather than being able to engage their opponents in debate: at the end, she holds up a $20 bill and urges her representative to come and take it away from her in order to give it to someone else. Cheap stunts won't paper over the fact that the ideology of people like her is full of holes.

UPDATE: Unlike almost all other Randroid loons, she doesn't come across as loopy in print (albeit a bit OUTRAGED). For instance, this:

What about when people give talks against illegal immigration? What if their talk is centered around describing how illegal immigration is a very dangerous concept to our economy as well as to our national security? Guess what. That could be a hate crime. Even without fallacious legislation to back them up, entitled college brats act like Neo-Stasi speech wardens.

Lastly, what about crimes committed against white people because they are white? There are puhlenty of cases like that out there. Do I think that those criminals should face tougher consequences because their actions were racially motivated? He** no. However this is a serious and innate flaw of any hate crime legislation - if you are not a protected minority, then no one can commit a "hate crime" against you. There is so much injustice built into these types of bills that it is sickening, and anyone that claims to be an advocate or supporter of equality and civil rights ought to be OUTRAGED.

Perhaps she should burn the notes she took while reading Atlas Shrugged and concentrate on that angle of things instead.

UPDATE 2: The video (ID _IYLqtYEYeI) was deleted because the (unknown) uploader closed their account. I've attached video of Carender accepting an award for her efforts from the Sam Adams Alliance. Video description:

Guy Benson presents--and Keli Carender accepts--the Town Hall Award at the 3rd Annual Sammies.

Keli Carender, of Seattle, Wash., won the $3,000 Town Hall Award for challenging Congressman Norm Dicks (D-WA) to personally take her $20 bill to pay for government health care, directly illustrating the demands the bill would make on taxpayers. Well-known as Liberty Belle, Keli has also been active in the Tea Party movement from its beginnings, and regularly blogs at Redistributing Knowledge. She has been featured in the New York Times and on NPR.

The 3rd Annual Sammies took place on Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Chicago Cultural Center. Sponsored by Sam Adams Alliance, the Sammies recognize exceptional citizen leaders working for a freer society.

What 25Aheads point. I somewhat agree that tea parties are useless in actually getting anything done. Hard work, independent thinking, and above all 100% faith in Jesus will overcome anything. Want good health care? Exercise and eat right. Want a good education, read, study, and put into action what you've learned. Complaining about our political process is just plain stupid. Talking about anything is even dumber. Be a producer. Action is louder than words.

Too true, if this was the case we wouldnt need such a big government... I dont mind this administration. I support it fully. Its about time that we evolve as a country and all Obama is tackling are issues pertinant to our generation. Healthcare reform will all our lives and it will pass as a bill. Instead of bitching about it we should make sure the most intelligent people of this great country polish the existing proposed law to make sure we get something we need. By the way Fred, you are an idiot.

you can't even spell mike. two typos in two entries. do you read what you write? "Healthcare reform will all our lives and it will pass as a bill." Unintelligible, deranged people should have their internet taken away from them. I am all for government mandated frontal lobotomies for people who cannot read or write, like mike.

Are you an english teacher? Is there any way you can read past typos and attempt to read the message. Are you that much of a prick that you rather post a comment calling me unintelligible for misspelling? Im calling you out piece of shit. Respond to the comment. I will post below with no typos this time. thanks prick. Too true, if this was the case we wouldnÂ’t need such a big government... I donÂ’t mind this administration. I support it fully. "I donÂ’t mind this administration. I support it fully." Judging by the Messiah's poll numbers, that would make you a fringe character. You're in the minority, on the outer fringes what is deemed normative. You support this administration because you like people like racist Rev. Wright and terrorist Bill Ayers, the Messiah's greatest influences. You have no morals or conscience, that's why you love a racist president. Calling people pricks just shows what a stupid, stupid man you are. Unable to make a coherent argument because you're too stupid to do so.
