Will the Bush administration reporting on Minuteman Project lead to impeachment? - 05/10/06

One can only hope. While treason is narrowly defined, if the Bush administration has indeed been giving the Mexican government information on law-abiding U.S. groups operating inside the U.S. that doesn't relate to specific Mexican nationals, they have committed treason in the general if not the Constitutional sense. We should give the Mexican government information on their nationals who have been detained or who have had encounters with border watch groups.

Chicago immigration "debate": ICIRR pulls out; far-lefties go nuts - 05/05/06

An immigration "debate" was scheduled in Chicago yesterday, to feature the local Minuteman Project chapter squaring off against the Blagojevich-linked Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.

Peter Schey working with Mexican government (Arpaio posse) - 05/04/06

By now you've heard about Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's plan to use his posse to round up illegal aliens in the Phoenix area. The Sheriff has already arrested about 120 illegal aliens and charged them with conspiracy to smuggle themselves into the country. What you probably haven't heard about is the lawyer who's been brought in by Mexico to defend those Arpaio has arrested. In fact, that might have been by design. Consider this intriguing paragraph from Amanda Lee Myers of the AP in "Ariz. Posse to Arrest Illegal Immigrants": A Los Angeles attorney brought into the case last week...

Illegal Immigrants, Unite Here! (under the union banner) - 05/03/06

Byron York does something that the MSM fails to do: follow a link. At the big pro-illegal-immigration rally on the Mall in Washington on April 10, thousands of demonstrators held aloft dark blue signs that read, "We Are America." Below those words, in smaller letters, was the name "New American Opportunity Campaign," and below that was a web address, www.cirnow.org... Following that he comes to this: As it happens, that is the Washington headquart

AP/MyWay/ABCNews pro-illegal immigration propaganda - 05/01/06

The AP article "1M Immigrants Skip Work for Demonstration" reads like free advertising for the "immigrants" who were marching in our streets. And, MyWay has coupled it with no less than four heartwarming photos of big American flags.

The "Immigrant" Rights Movement - 04/30/06

Did you know there's a growing "Immigrant" Rights Movement? Of course, most Americans will refer to that "movement" as "foreign citizens who are here illegally marching in our streets making a show of force and demanding rights to which they aren't entitled", but many news/propaganda organizations seem to prefer the first term. And, not just because it's shorter but - of course - because it's highly misleading. There are currently hundreds of articles in Google News that use the titular phrase.

Dianne Solis, Alfredo Corchado, Dallas Morning News downplay Mexican meddling - 04/22/06

Those reporters offer "Latino leaders to discuss 'Great American Boycott' in Mexico City" which contains this wildly inaccurate paragraph: In March, as student walkouts and protests spread across the United States, the Mexican government ordered its 46 consulates to stay away from the marches, fearing a backlash among anti-immigrant groups.

Links between the Democratic Party and the Mexican government - 04/22/06

Many Democratic politicians and pundits supported the recent illegal immigration marches, and some Democratic politicians appeared at some of the rallies or even helped organize some of them. And, some other organizers of the rallies have various kinds of links to the government of Mexico. While that's not enough to claim that the Democratic Party has direct links to the Mexican government, they are clearly part of the same network. And, that should be disturbing to the millions of more moderate members of that party. Here are the current known links:

Think Progress, Ezra Klein, AP downplay organizers of illegal immigration marches - 04/13/06

[See the update below] ThinkProgress - a site associated with the Clinton-associated Center for American Progress - downplays the organizers of the recent illegal immigration marches in this one sentence post.

Arizona libertarians collaborating with Mexican government official - 04/13/06

From this: The marchers in the Immigration Rally in Phoenix, Arizona, will get some unexpected information during their protest outside the state capitol on Monday. Along with the many leaflets and flyers promoting one agenda or another, many of them received little cards, introducing them to the concepts of libertarianism, free society and open borders, in a sort of "reverse reconquista" maneuver.

Sam Brownback's false compassion - 04/09/06

Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) supports illegal immigration and giving an amnesty to those illegal aliens currently here out of "humanitarian" grounds. Let's take a look at just how much "compassion" there is in his support for illegal immigration. His "compassion" would lead to: - more illegal immigration into the U.S. - more of the associated worker abuse - more border deaths - entrenching the Mexican oligarchy and preventing reforms - increased political power in the U.S.

The Mexican government's plan for the United States - 04/04/06

There's a lot of racism swirling around the immigration "debate", and not always of the kind that's obvious. Certainly, some of those who oppose or support various forms of immigration are indeed racially-motivated. However, one of the more hidden varieties comes from those who think of Mexicans as just those happy smiling serf laborers out in the fields picking their "cheap" lettuce.

Fareed Zakaria's wonderful, heartwarming, misleading essay on immigration - 04/03/06

The TV pundit offers a wonderful, heartwarming, and misleading essay in "To Become an American". 1. He downplays the issue of illegal immigration, and might give the uninformed reader the mistaken idea that there's little difference between the legal and illegal variety. 2. By doing the first, he might give uninformed readers the mistaken idea that the question is about whether to allow immigration in general. 3.

Former Mexican consul organized the Georgia boycott - 04/03/06

Welcome readers of the Washington Post's "Town's-Eye View of Immigration Debate" (link). There are a few things missing from that report, the most important being that the boycott the WaPo mentions was organized by a former Mexican Consul General. The WaPo's Peter Slevin says: Proponents of more generous accommodations for illegal immigrants staged a one-day economic boycott on March 24 that shuttered businesses and boosted morale. Did Slevin know who was involved in that boycott? Shouldn't he had mentioned it if he knows?

Georgia illegal aliens protest organized by former Mexican consul - 03/24/06

[See the first update for more] Tim Molloy of the AP offers a roundup of the recent protest by illegal aliens who are demanding rights to which they aren't entitled in the falsely-titled "Immigration Rallies Draw Thousands Nationwide". It contains the following: Teodoro Maus, an organizer of the Georgia protest, estimated as many as 80,000 Hispanics did not show up for work. Molloy or his editors are apparently too shy to tell us that Maus isn't just a member of the "Coordinating Committee of Community Leaders". He's also a former Mexican consul. As with other professions, whether anyone...

The immigration debate, Washington Post-style - 03/20/06

The Washington Post featured a chat about immigration with one of their reporters earlier today, and it shows the only type of "debate" that paper is willing to have about immigration. The chat featured Michael Leahy, author of a recent article about the Minuteman Project in Virginia ("Crossing the Line", 3/19/06).

Michael Leahy of Washington Post answers tough immigration questions! - 03/20/06

Michael Leahy of the Washington Post is currently engaged in a chat about illegal immigration here.

Arizona Republic almost does expose on Western Union - 03/19/06

Chris Hawley of the AZ Republic offers the somewhat surprising article "Wire firm a force in debate over immigration". It's surprising because in a rare move for the AZ Republic it comes close to reporting the actual truth. They come close to implying that Western Union and their parent company First Data are profiting off illegal immigration, are encouraging illegal immigration, and are corrupting our political system. ...In recent years, Denver-based First Data has openly campaigned for immigration reform, which could legalize millions of undocumented workers, and has created a $10...

Lake Havasu City, the American city - 03/18/06

After reading hundreds of newspaper articles about illegal immigration in small towns, I don't think I've read about a town that hasn't yet experienced the "wonders" of "liberalism".

Gov. Ted Kulongoski suddenly realizes he's an American - 03/12/06

Oregon's governor, Ted Kulongoski, used to support allowing state agencies to attend events sponsored by the local Mexican consulate where they gave out ID cards to illegal aliens (see "Dave Frohnmayer, U of Oregon collaborate with Mexican government" and "Mexican residents gain ID benefits"). Now, he's changed his mind and won't allow state agencies to attend the events. This is a good victory for the American side.

Blagojevich-linked group agitating illegal aliens, calls for general strike - 03/08/06

A group of illegal aliens and supporters of illegal immigration are planning a large march in Chicago on Friday, March 10: somosunpueblo.com/March%2030/English.htm That page explains that they want to legalize "undocumented immigrants". They also want Illinois to be a "SANCTUARY" for "all immigrants". And, they're calling for a "National GENERAL STRIKE". So, citizens of other countries who are here illegally are marching for rights to which they aren't entitled, and making demands.

Don't be a hater, support illegal immigration and lowering American wages! - 02/21/06

A company called Triumph wants to bring a new pork plant to East Moline, IL.

Floridians: ask John McCain questions he can't answer! - 02/20/06

From this: [Arizona Sen. John McCain] will be in Miami on Thursday and will promote a business-backed guest worker program and other immigration reforms. The Arizona senator will speak at "town hall" meeting in South Florida sponsored by the New American Opportunity Campaign. That group includes labor unions, business interests, Hispanic groups and other supporters of guest worker program. If you're in Miami, could you please try to attend this event and publicly embarass John McCain by trying to ask him a tough question he can't answer? Unfortunately, the event isn't listed at his site (...

Mexico admits: most emigrants had work in Mexico - 02/17/06

Allan Wall discusses this comment from a Vicente Fox spokesman:

Does Fabian Nunez represent the U.S. or Mexico? - 02/14/06

On Saturday, a group of pro-illegal immigration activists held a confab in Riverside. As previously discussed, it was organized by UCR professor Armando Navarro, and those speaking included California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez (via a taped message) and a senator from a Mexican state. From the Lou Dobbs transcript: DOBBS: Tonight, this nation's open border movement has found itself some new friends.

Dave Frohnmayer, U of Oregon collaborate with Mexican government - 02/13/06

On Saturday, the Mexican government held a "Carousel of Information" at the HEP Building on the campus of the University of Oregon. This was yet another mobile consulate affair where they presumably passed out Matricula Consular ID cards to a presumably largely illegal crowd. Thankfully, the American side protested this, and a large number of reports are here and starting here.

"Cardinal Mahoney initiates immigrant rights campaign" - 02/08/06

And what better place to read the news than at this most appropriate site? Cardinal Roger Mahoney, who heads the Los Angeles archdiocese, attacked House Resolution 4437 as "a new attack on immigrants [and] a very malicious bill that imposes restrictions and penalties on immigrants [and also] those who offer them any kind of assistance." ...The United States Catholic Conference of Bishops is participating in the Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform, which includes hundred of labor, civil rights, faith, c

"Banks aim to help immigrants send money home" - 01/27/06

What a heart-warming title to this CSM report (link). Of course, they don't go into the downsides: billions of dollars is flowing out of the country and being used to prop up corrupt foreign governments and depriving those countries of the citizens and industries they need to improve. And, that encourages those corrupt governments to send us even more of their people. And, many of those "immigrants" are in fact illegal aliens.

Sensenbrenner: no amnesty; perhaps U.S. Chamber of Commerce should register as foreign agent - 01/26/06

From this: Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner Jr., the House point man on immigration, yesterday said that a guest-worker program like the one proposed by President Bush is amnesty and that he cannot accept it in a final immigration bill...

Border incursions: CBP wants investigation; Mexico issues border ban - 01/26/06

FWIW: U.S. and Mexican officials on Tuesday were investigating a bizarre encounter between Texas lawmen and heavily armed intruders who were wearing Mexican military uniforms while evidently escorting a caravan of sport utility vehicles that was smuggling marijuana into the United States.

Humane Borders, Mexican government to give maps to illegal crossers; Jim Kolbe, Pima County support - 01/24/06

Pima County (home of Tucson) and Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) are supporters of a plan by the Humane Borders group to pass out maps to Mexicans showing them the best places to illegally cross our border. Story - with several comments - here.

Is Paul Hackett too intelligent for the Democratic Party? - 01/23/06

The candidate for U.S. Senate from Ohio - a Democrat - recently caused the pro-illegal immigration Victorians in his party to have the vapors: U.S. Senate candidate Paul Hackett told a Toledo crowd this week that he'd deport all illegal immigrants if the national budget permitted, stirring another controversy over his candor a

A Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law / California State Bar update - 01/20/06

As previously discussed, the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law is collaborating with the Mexican government on the "Voces Unidas" project. CHRCL "is generously supported by the California Legal Services Trust Fund", causing me to ask whether state-managed money was being used to help an invading foreign power. It took a few weeks, but the State Bar has replied to my question and indicates that none of the State Bar's Legal Services Trust Fund's grant money is going towards CHRCL's "Voces Unidas" project:

Mexican military incursions: Chertoff downplays, excuses - 01/19/06

On Saturday, the Daily Bulletin offered "Mexican soldiers defy border", which reported that: The Mexican military has crossed into the United States 216 times in the past nine years, according to a Department of Homeland Security document and a map of incursions obtained by the Daily Bulletin. U.S. officials claim the incursions are made to help foreign drug and human smugglers cross safely into the United States.

New York Times discusses plight of illegal alien, supports union busting - 01/12/06

Order a new batch of hankies, because the NYT has a new PIIPP ("pro-illegal immigration puff piece"). It's called "More and More, Women Risk All to Enter U.S." and it's from Lizette Alvarez and John M. Broder.

Hogai Nassery, AJC, Georgia SB 170, and muddled thinking - 01/09/06

Dr. Hogai Nassery is a physician practicing in Chamblee, Georgia and she offers "State can't pass law, deny care to noncitizens" about that state's Senate Bill 170, which is similar to CA's Prop. 187 and Arizona's Prop. 200. As far as I know, it only deals with illegal aliens and not all non-citizens, thus the title is highly misleading. It starts out with this: I planned to write about all of the pragmatic reasons to provide equal access to health care regardless of immigration status.

Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law collaborating with Mexican government - 12/29/05

The Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law (CHRCL) is a "non-profit, public interest legal foundation" located at centerforhumanrights.org.

LULAC criticizes Mexico's pro-illegal immigration propaganda - 12/28/05

The League of United Latin American Citizens is complaining about Mexico's choice of Rob Allyn to promote their country. To show you just where their loyalties lie, this is their complaint: Hector Flores, national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens, said he understands that Mr. Allyn goes to work for whoever pays him. "That's the American way," Mr.

New York Times' Simon Romero does Rob Allyn's work for him - 12/28/05

Simon Romero of the New York Times offers a profile of Rob Allyn, the Dallas political strategist who's been hired by Mexico to burnish their image in the U.S.: "Republican Strategist Is Taking Heat for Taking Mexico as Client". The profile reads like it could have been written by Allyn himself, including this bit about HR 4437: Even some of the bill's supporters acknowledge that its requirements, once considered on the extre
