Is Nick Inzunza (mayor of National City) a slumlord? - 10/05/06

Here's a quick look at two SDUT stories. From October 1 2006's "National City named sanctuary city": Mayor Nick Inzunza declared National City an immigrant sanctuary in a proclamation he presented to immigrants rights activists during dueling rallies that brought about 400 people to City Hall yesterday. Democratic Party-linked Enrique Morones was there.

Mexico consul general in Oregon profiled - 10/02/06

Janie Har of the Oregonian offers "Mexican consul walks a fine line" about Mexico's consul general for Oregon, Fernando Sanchez Ugarte. Despite having five screens (!) to work with, there is very little of interest to those who've, for instance, watched how the government of Mexico has been able to obtain political power inside the U.S.

Beachhead: Houston Chronicle fully supports Mexican agenda, illegal immigration - 09/11/06

The Houston Chronicle unsigned editorial "Beachhead" is so shocking in its outright support for illegal immigration and Mexico's agenda it's almost unbelievable: FOUR years ago, Mexico closed its New Orleans consulate a

Steve Laffey, Lincoln Chafee, Matricula Consular cards, the NRSC, and idiots - 08/23/06

Rep. Alicia Robinson, Daily Pilot pimps ID cards for illegal aliens (Matricula Consular) - 06/26/06

Alicia Robinson of Orange County's Los Angeles Times-affiliated Daily Pilot offers "ID card seen as ticket to a brighter future" about Mexico's Matricula Consular cards, aka "IDs for illegals". Mexico passes those IDs out to their citizens in the U.S. irrespective of their immigration status, and they're mostly used by illegal aliens in order to obtain some form of legitimacy.

"Homeland Security accepts fake ID" [Matricula Consular] - 06/12/06

Bruce DeCell, a retired New York City police officer, used his phony card -- which lists his place of birth as "Tijuana, B.C." and his address as "123 Fraud Blvd." on an incorrectly spelled "Staton Island, N.Y." -- to enter the building Wednesday for

Banks worried about being called felons just because they may have aided and abetted illegal aliens - 05/09/06

The Chicago Tribune's "Immigrant bill worries banks" from Becky Yerak informs us that officers of banks that give home loans to illegal aliens are worried about being named as felons if HR4437 passes. As discussed below [1], if a bank knows that someone is here illegally, and then gives them a home loan that allows them to stay here illegally, hasn't that bank committed a felony under current law?

The "Immigrant" Rights Movement - 04/30/06

Did you know there's a growing "Immigrant" Rights Movement? Of course, most Americans will refer to that "movement" as "foreign citizens who are here illegally marching in our streets making a show of force and demanding rights to which they aren't entitled", but many news/propaganda organizations seem to prefer the first term. And, not just because it's shorter but - of course - because it's highly misleading. There are currently hundreds of articles in Google News that use the titular phrase.

Venezuela has mobile consulates - 04/24/06

As discussed many times, Mexico has mobile consulates that they set up in small towns in order to provide Matricula Consular cards and other services to their citizens, many or most of whom are here illegally. Now, Daniel Connolly of the AP offers a nary-a-dissenting-word article with the news that Venezuela had a mobile consulate in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Dianne Solis, Alfredo Corchado, Dallas Morning News downplay Mexican meddling - 04/22/06

Those reporters offer "Latino leaders to discuss 'Great American Boycott' in Mexico City" which contains this wildly inaccurate paragraph: In March, as student walkouts and protests spread across the United States, the Mexican government ordered its 46 consulates to stay away from the marches, fearing a backlash among anti-immigrant groups.

Lake Havasu City, the American city - 03/18/06

After reading hundreds of newspaper articles about illegal immigration in small towns, I don't think I've read about a town that hasn't yet experienced the "wonders" of "liberalism".

Dave Frohnmayer, U of Oregon collaborate with Mexican government - 02/13/06

On Saturday, the Mexican government held a "Carousel of Information" at the HEP Building on the campus of the University of Oregon. This was yet another mobile consulate affair where they presumably passed out Matricula Consular ID cards to a presumably largely illegal crowd. Thankfully, the American side protested this, and a large number of reports are here and starting here.

On Saturday, the Pikes Peak Library District allowed the Mexican consulate to use a room at their Sand Creek branch to pass out Matricula Consular ID cards to Mexican citizens, many or most of whom were here illegally. And, those ID cards enable those illegal aliens to live and work here much more easily than they could otherwise. The Pikes Peak Library District is indirectly supporting illegal immigration.

Is the Pikes Peak Library District breaking federal law? - 02/07/06

The Pikes Peak Library District will be allowing the Mexican consulate to give out Matricula Consular cards and other services at its Sand Creek branch on Saturday Feb 11. Knowing that many of those receiving these cards will be illegal aliens, and they will use those cards to stay in the U.S., is that district violating federal law? Let's turn to 8 U.S.C.

The new police are assigned a variet

"Banks aim to help immigrants send money home" - 01/27/06

What a heart-warming title to this CSM report (link). Of course, they don't go into the downsides: billions of dollars is flowing out of the country and being used to prop up corrupt foreign governments and depriving those countries of the citizens and industries they need to improve. And, that encourages those corrupt governments to send us even more of their people. And, many of those "immigrants" are in fact illegal aliens.

Santa Cruz Sentinel pimps remittances from illegal aliens - 12/30/05

While reading the article "A first for Santa Cruz County: Mexican bank opens in downtown Watsonville" by Tom Ragan I kept asking myself, "is this an ad? Don't companies normally have to pay to get articles like this rather than, say, real journalism involving exposes and such?" Let's take a look: Bancomer, the only Mexican bank between here and San Jose, is open for business downtown...

Hugh Hewitt, Ken Mehlman on illegal immigration - 12/05/05

Slightly popular partisan hack BushBot Hugh Hewitt conducted a radio interview with RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman and discussed the word "illegal immigration". As it turns out, the GOP is declaring war on that word. As regards the actual process of massive illegal immigration, if the GOP had their druthers that would continue and get even worse. Here's a transcript of the interview.

The end of the line for illegal immigration supporter Douglas Duncan? - 10/24/05

The WashTimes predicts that he's bitten off more than he can chew and, once he loses the Maryland governor's race his career will be finished: "Doug Duncan's end?" Since 1974, no Maryland politician except Sen. Barbara Mikulski has ever lost an election for statewide office and managed to salvage a political career. Of course, Mr. Duncan could be the once-in-a-generation politician who overcomes the odds.

The L.A. Daily News reports in "Bill would give some Central Americans green cards" that Rep. Howard Berman (D-Van Nuys) has introduced a bill to give said cards to 200,000 people from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. "Many" are illegal aliens, "others" are here under a temporary visa of some kind. I'd imagine that a very good percentage of those live in Los Angeles. Supporters include Reps.

Or, are they just incompetent and gullible?

Is the Ventura County Star a Mexican newspaper? - 07/07/05

After reading the report "Mexican nationals learn how to transfer funds electronically" I'm left wondering. It describes how local banks (presumably chartered in the U.S.) set up booths in front of the Mexican consulate in Ventura to teach "immigrants" how to send money back home. Like other such reports, it reads like an advertisement, describing what a wonderful way to send money this is. But, I slightly expected to find, somewhere down in the 14th paragraph or so, something like "but some people worry about illegal immigration" or similar. Yet, nothing like that is to be found. In fact,...

Bank of "America", Part 2 - 07/01/05

The Mexican consulate visited Carpentersville, IL to pass out Matricula Consular cards, also known as IDs for illegals. A report is in "Mexicans line up for ID cards, passports". Yes, I realize the title is a bit... strong.

Far-left illegal alien advocates bus in anti-Arnold demonstrators (my title) - 05/23/05

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if my title had been used, rather than "Angry Immigrants Protest at Capitol"? In that case, we'd actually know what's going on.
