Neel Kashkari supports driver's licenses for illegal aliens

At the September 4, 2014 California gubernatorial debate between Jerry Brown and Neel Kashkari, Kashkari admitted that he would have signed the same law as Jerry Brown that gave driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Scan forward to 3:40 on the clip below for the short version of what Kashkari said, then scroll back to the beginning for the full segment.

It's a false choice to assume that we have to choose between illegal aliens driving without licenses and giving them licenses. The alternative is to reduce the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. The immigration policies of Jerry Brown encourage illegal aliens to stay, such as giving tuition discounts and driver's licenses. Kashkari would continue at least the inducement of driver's licenses.

The debate itself was as bad as all the other debates held at a national and local level: the supposed reporters asked weak questions that didn't show how the candidates are wrong. But, at least in this case they did press Kashkari to make a choice. And, he made the choice that's bad for the U.S. and bad for California.

See drivers licenses for extensive past coverage, including of the many downsides of giving them to illegal aliens. See the links in the first paragraph for more on those topics.

And, make sure and see the Neel Kashkari page. I asked Kashkari 40 immigration questions, all tougher than anything asked in the debate. Not only was he incapable of answering any of them, Kashkari smeared me on a radio program simply for asking him those questions.
