No taxation [of illegal aliens] without representation

Expect "logic" like the title to be one of the next major arguments that supporters of massive illegal immigration will use. The barely coherent story "Patrolman's union wants change to HPD's illegal immigrant policy" has this at the end:

"We believe [Houston's new policy about working with ICE] will make immigrants fear police. They pay taxes and are entitled to police services," said Maria Jimenez a longtime social justice activist... Public safety, Jimenez said, without distinction.

From earlier in the year, see "Gloria Romero's revolution" for quotes from California Democrats comparing the May 1 illegal immigration march to the Boston Tea Party.

And, of course, consider all the articles pointing out all the taxes that illegal aliens pay.

Illegal aliens pay taxes to some extent no doubt, but so do children in school, welfare cases and foreign tourists.
The question is whether we owe loyalty to the citizen such as the net taxpayer, when illegals attack by grabbing net public subsidies.
If someone stopped over for a few hours on a flight to a third country, and managed to pay a couple dollars in sales taxes en route, would they then be entitled to get a transplant operation here?
There's a huge difference between foreigner and citizen, when it comes to who should get something here.

Maybe I should know better by now, but it still seems bizarre to me the way some people seem to want to eliminate all possible negative consequences to being in the country illegally. I mean, have they stopped to think, even for a moment, about what will become of the country if we give up any last pretense (which at times seems like all we have at the moment anyway) of enforcing immigration law?

Anyway, since most of the same people favor amnesty, perhaps their positions are consistent, if not sensible.

Yes, if the Houston police work closely with ICE, they would no longer have the splendid cooperation with illegal aliens which they now enjoy (apparently).
