A traipse through the BushBot blogosphere

Believe it or not, there are still KoolAid-besotted bloggers out there who believe in Our Leader.

One of them is "MacsMind", which was previously featured here giving Bush's critics a piece of his mind:
"Shut up whiners"
He's back with macsmind.blogspot.com/2006/05/giving-it-up-for-bush-true-american.html:
No one is above criticism, yet of all the Presidents of recent history - including the previous President - of which history will show to be the most corrupt ever - President Bush is a true leader and a true American hero.

While not always agreeing on everything he presents, one think I admire about him is that he does stand behind what he presents and believes passionately in what he is doing and believes it to be in the best interests of the country.

That's called "Character"...
He also links to the strangely creepy "The Anchoress" (theanchoressonline.com/2006/05/22/the-essential-president-bush):
That made me wonder a little - has President Bush lost his bearings, or have we? Is it President Bush who has broken faith with "his base" or have they?

...The president who had delivered one gift after another to his base asked them to trust him, and his base sneered...
I can't quite put my finger on why "TA" seems so creepy, but perhaps it has something to do with the pompous-yet-down-to-earth prose style, or perhaps it's the ever-so-slight whiff of propaganda, or perhaps it's because I suspect she's actually Ken Mehlman.

UPDATE: This is very, very scary. It has come to our attention that a NYC prat (jameswolcott.com/archives/2006/05/shutin_throws_p.php) likewise has complaints about TA. I only found out about that after I posted the above. And, in Pajamas Media blog babe is scary, but hot I raised issues with Pamela (atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com). Only after posting that I found out that the same NYC idiot (jameswolcott.com/archives/2006/01/good_riddance.php) also had issues with her. Very scary indeed.

thank you chris lutz that is great! the fact is bush wants only one thing "for people to do nothing" ,and let face facts the real idea is to make this place we call the USA to Become mexico or the third world, and its happening right in front of you, the fact is this great nation of real heros will be killed soon by the ideals of total corruption of the ideals of laws and for the ideals of guys like that low life Fox and rats, the fact is you can stop it before it becomes and real civil and race war, but people do not have the will to stop evil from happening right in front of your face, and that is sad, so sad when i think of what will happen to you! and the evil that is coming will happen to you! and may God help you all.

Yep, I'm with ya. You literally must be bumping into furniture if you're still supporting the prez at this point.

I think for the Anchoress it's about faith, and putting your faith in another human being, especially one you don't know personally, is always dangerous and foolish.

And now that he is simply lying I think you see the dissonance tearing these folks apart. Their hero is letting them down and they know it, and it's killing them.

Entirely agree re the Anchoress. Stranger yet, seh seems to have admirers out there...

Bush has delivered "one gift after another?" Let's see:

1. We got tax cuts that aren't even permanent but have to be renewed every so often. But, we did get tax cuts.
2. Yes, the base clamored for a drug prescription plan and more Federalization of public schools.
3. He started out well with the war against Islamic jihadism (of course he won't call it that). Yet, he's still buddies with the Saudi's. His democracy plan for the Middle East has resulted in Hamas running the PA. Don't cite Lebanon since it has a large Christian population which tempers Muslim control. Iran is getting the bomb. Who knows how Iraq is going to turn out and when did we sign up on the plan to turn Iraq into a democracy. I thought the plan was to remove Saddam, who inexplicably is still alive. Then, of course, there was the Dubai Port World deal. Just from a PR standpoint, the whole thing was a fiasco.
4. Bush has pretty much been forced to appoint conservative supreme court justices. Anyone who thinks Harriet Myers was a good choice has been smoking something. Meanwhile, he has let other good appointments languish without making much effort to get them through.
5. On immigration, Bush is gone. How can the base support someone whose administration has done a worse job enforcing immigration law than Clinton? That's enforcing the current law. The useless National Guard on the border pandering and cheap rhetoric are not going to move the conservative base.

About half of the items I listed above happened during the first four years. The base stuck with Bush even though they had to hold their nose with a lot of the major Bush initiatives. Now, with the country on the line, Bush decides not to enforce the law, tells Americans they will not do certain jobs, and supports changing the culture of the country. Tell me, where has the base changed what it believes in? And it is not just the base sent a large majority of Americans support enforcing border security.

Some people are True Believers and nothing will cause them to change their minds.
