Has the U.S. Senate endorsed use of forged documents and identity theft?

The Senate voted yesterday to allow illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment -- even if the job was obtained through forged or stolen documents.

"There was a felony they were committing, and now they can't be prosecuted. That sounds like amnesty to me," said Sen. John Ensign, the Nevada Republican who offered the amendment yesterday to strip out those provisions of the immigration reform bill. "It just boggles the mind how people could be against this amendment."

The Ensign amendment was defeated on a 50-49 vote...
The U.S. Senate is clearly saying that some forms of use of forged documents are acceptable. It's unclear how this would affect someone who's using the SSN of a U.S. citizen where that fraudulent use of their SSN has caused some sort of damage to that citizen.

What about all those U.S. citizens who've committed identity theft or have used forged documents? Will they get a pass too? Or, are passes only given out to citizens of other countries?

I have a Mexican-American (born in California of legal resident parents) who had her credit history ruined because an illegal stole her identity in order to falsify legal status. The leftists claiming that those who support tough immigration reform are racist are ignoring the fact that people harmed most by some of the illegal activities of those crossing the border illegally are themselves American hispanics. Amnesty only rewards foreigners taking advantage of American minorities. But of course, the policies of the left cannot be labelled "racist" because they're well, the left.

there is some pro&cons but those immigrants that has worked here in this country should have rights here and claim.ssi benefits from the government what is comming from them. if they work hard hardly just for low wages for yrs why not be fair to them. in any problem that occurs in this system there are always weak points to it as well in any situration there will always be outlaws that will come under the system it is some thing that can't be helped if one has a cousin or uncle that will try to use the immigration process. that who has a bad criminal back grown

the murderous so called U.S. Senate will endorse anything that will help mexico and its drug dealers, it is not of the people or by the people but it is the enemy of the people, i can say this now without being shot to death but in the future many will be killed by the undocumented government, for race and poltitcal ideals of the third worlds people. but some of us will go down fighting for the former USA.
